The Colorado assualt weapons bill died in committee last night.  Hard to tell what comes next.  At least for now though, those of us who have fought this bill tooth and nail for the last 4 months, we'll take a pause to celibrate.  We won the battle, but surely the war will continue.

As long as the front-range "progressives" dominate politics in the state the AWB will be proposed again, just like we're seeing in other states
Also On the docket for gun-related stuff this legislative session in CO

  • SB23-168 Hold firearms manufacturers and vendors liable for third-party criminal acts comitted with guns

  • SB23-169 Raise the age to possess any firearm to 21

  • SB23-170 Expand the “red flag” gun confiscation scheme by allowing additional “qualified” individuals to put a red-flag order on someone and confiscate their firearms without due process and no ability to appeal

  • SB23-279 Unserialized firearm ban AND ban firearms for those charged with this misdemeanor crime

  • HB23-1219 Require 3-day waiting period between firearm purchases and possession, no "delay release"

As I said, the war will continue.  The liberal control of the Front Range politics aren't going to change in my lifetime.  In the meantime, we enjoy a win when we can - knowing more battles will come.
