Wifes uncle has a Colt 1911, serial # 63xxx. How does one date this pistol?

One would Google 'colt 1911 serial numbers date manufactured', and then click the first result that pops up.

Huh. Tried that from my phone the other day and got zero info. Thought maybe the website was inactive.

Anyhoo.....thanks, pistol was produced in 1914. The patenia on that pistol would bear its age, very cool all around; I would love to own it someday.

Depends on if it is military or commercial - a c prefix commercial would generally be a lot later than a military without out a letter prefix. Tons of people neglect to include any associated letters in the serial number
