No, they are not.

The difference in performance for most of these new steels for most daily applications is marginal at best.

Sure, the different steels are fun, we get to talk about them a bit, but at the end of the day, we all know it doesn't mean shit.

So many other things come into play for cutting ability before the steel that arguing about the steel is a bit of a joke.

Except S30V.

Fuck S30V.

It seems to have quickly died off as a mainstream choice.

Thank goodness for that.

I'm the worst knife nerd ever. I've only been impressed by edge retention on one knife. My maxamet pm2 impressed me a lot when I first got it. It seemed to stay sharp forever, until I used it to scrape an adhesive label off of a breaker bar, then I had to touch it up.

Everything else seems pretty equal, even s30v. I haven't had issues with it at all.

This is not an acceptable few day delay when you consider an anniversary is the same date every year, and she knew what I wanted with plenty of head notice. Her present has been in my possession for weeks.

I have delayed the Eject until Monday, the stated delivery date

154CM is a decent steel. But for the price that Emerson is charging for his knives, I don't find it to be a great bang for the buck. My ZT620 is M390, a titanium framelock and had a carbon fiber handle. It cost $240 when I purchased it. When I use my CQC-10, I need to sharpen it a lot more often from just day to day cutting tasks. The M390 keeps its edge a lot longer. I love Emerson's designs, but for $250+, I want more than 154CM.

Even Magnacut would be great to fit Emerson's "Hard Use" slogan. It's a tough steel that's easy to sharpen.

Baked bacon cheddar mashed potatoes, mushrooms & onions roasted in olive oil, balsamic & herbs de prov., broccoli with tamari and sesame oil. The latter is a bit out of place but is how I nearly always do steamed veggies.

My A100 sharpened by sywagon has had zero issue with edge retention.

ZT may be good at mass production, but they are woefully lacking on creative design.

Why would it be OK to pay more for materials, but not for the designs?

Emersons are fine for the price. Prolific designer. Thoughtful designs. Hand made in the USA in small batches.

The ZT620 is an Emerson design, but a framelock, M390 and carbon fiber.

I have owned a good amount of Emerson knives, but I ended up selling most of them because I ended up finding knives I like better. I still have my Combat Karambit and CQC-10 that were converted to framelocks by Nathawut. I'll never sell those. I still have a Traveler that has slight lock rock that I haven't figured out what to do with.

But I haven't found a newer Emerson production knife that would kick the ZT620 out of my pocket.

There’s a Whole Foods next to Coors Field and they have a ton of fresh hot pizzas available by the slice. Maybe 12 different selections. I had a cheese and roasted garlic clove pizza. It was amazing. The roasted cloves on it were so good I went back and bought another slice. It helped that I ate in their seating on the second floor patio.
