The correct term for both pieces of the rig is tractor trailer. The truck in front is the tractor (y'know, because it pulls the other thing) and the part in back is called a semi-trailer. Semi, because it only has wheels in the back, with the forepart riding on top of the towing tractor.

ETA: If you see the truck tractor part running down the street alone, it's called bobtailing. If you see the trailer part running down the street alone, it's called "OH SHIIIIIT!!!!"
