You know; the old 20”-24” stainless barreled ARs with the free float tube hand guard, fixed A2 stock and medium or high power variable optic? Typically used for hunting and/or target shooting.
Growing up in the 2000’s I saw them in gun rags a lot, and now I’m thinking about building one for the Hell of it. They just have a neat aesthetic to them for some reason. |

I have a colt one I’m re barreling to a Fulton and adding a quad rail. I haven’t decided what to do with the tube and barrel that I swap

I used to have one, like you said, way back in the day. I shot targets and ground squirrels.
My buddies who were not into that kind of rifle were often downright pissed at how accurate it was. I remember showing off my new Leupold QR rings. I removed my scope and then put it back on. "Wtf, I'm struggling to shoot groups and I just watched you take your scope off and on and still keep them all inside the smallest circle on the target" Downside was the extreme weight, plus it was all the rage to have a long sunshade on your optic. Bausch and Lomb elite 3000 is what I remember having on it. |

Buy one of White Oak Armaments varmint or match rifle uppers.
They offer two free float tube diameters; the slimmer model is what I suggest. |

Just look at the night hunting forum.
These builds are more prevalent then ever with ARCA rails, thermal hog/coyote hunting more affordable than ever, development of tripods and mil-sim games/matches. Used to be only a handful that make 18-22" heavy barrel free float varmint style uppers. I think every company makes one now, it's just called a "match" rifle instead of a "varmint" rifle, and all the barrels are threaded now. |

No, but I'm wanting tubes like those for an Armalite pattern ar10 build. Links are appreciated.

Built a rifle around a 24 inch Xcaliber stainless steel bull barrel. Don't have a picture handy, but I love it, and it drives nails.

Built my wife a varmint rig using a Green Mountain Rifle barrel 18" .223 Wylde 1:14 twist, Hogue free floated handguard but collapsible stock to fit her shorter stature. Has a 3x9 scope on it that will get replaced at some point.

I called it my vARmint rifle.
1 turn in 11" barrel (couldn't find a 1 turn in 12" at the time). 2X10 Simmons scope (don't buy one, not nearly as clear as a decent scope should be). Shoots awesome groups with 45 and 55 grain bullets. Put a carbine stock on it so the kids could shoot it more comfortably, but a couple years later I put an A2 stock on it. Haven't carried it to the range to shoot it in years. Attached File |

Don’t own one but the shop I work at part time has a 24” fluted SS barrel Rock River in .204 Ruger. Interesting round.

View Quote I had one of those back in the early 2000's. Heavy, but accurate as hell with lower grain ammo. |

Yes, and I still have it. Although it hasn’t been shot in nearly a decade.

I had one and sold it after slaying a bunch of prairie doggies. It was quite heavy and a PITA to lug around all day.

I eventually decided to sell that upper and replace it with a 16" barrel and quad rails, but it's still rocking the 4-16x and A2 stock.
