[Last Edit: Skyler2000]
So I have 5.56 Lancer L5AWM magazines loaded with 220gr .300BLK ammo.

Can doing this cause damage to the magazines? I'm just curious because I plan on replacing my 5.56 magazines with .300BLK magazines.

Heavy subs don't feed well for me in lancers

Yes, but I'm wondering if they can actually damage the magazines.

Loading and using? No, other than possible feed issues.
The stack will not lay correctly the more rounds you load, you will always be pushing out on the front ribs.
Maybe if you drop one hard and the stack tries to align you bulge the mag body.

So then could pushing out the front ribs be damaging to the magazine?

you arent gonna hurt a lancer mag with 300bo subs, i tried a bunch of them but they didnt feed well. the mags still work fine when loaded with 5.56 after 300 sub use

Worry more about accidentally feeding a .300 Eldest Son into a 5.56 AR w/ an H2 buffer & a Forward Assist.

5.56 in clear mags, .300 Blackout goes in anything else that can feed it.

As already stated, extremely doubtful.

Thanks.

I'll just use .300BLK dedicated magazines from now on, if only so that they are visually distinct from my 5.56 magazines.

I've never had issue with shooting 220 Gr .300 Blks out of my Lancer or G2, G3 Magpuls made for 5.56...

for .300 Blk I usually use either Lancer Mags or G3s with one of those rubber Bracelets thingies on them that have .300 Blk on one side and Subsonic on the other.
