How would you guys rate PMC bronze on a hotness scale compared to regular 5.56 ammo? Would it be considered weak ammo?
Want to have my gun run with weaker type ammo but don't have any Tula crap ammo to test it. |

I have a bunch and use it for plinking. Made in Korea but it’s cheap and reliable.

It's mediocre but works.

the amount ive shot it always ran. i never had an issue with PMC

So in my totally unscientific tests for PMC bronze, I'm getting about 4 o'clock ejection on a rifle that I would be getting 2:30-3 o'clock ejection with hot Lake City M193, and possibly failures to lock back on the last round with Wolf steel case.
It seems pretty middle of the road compared to the military clones but not quite as soft as your cheap range ammo. |

I've never actually checked it with a chrono but shooting it back to back with XM193 the PMC Bronze does feel a little weaker. I was shooting it in my suppressed mk18 recently and it seemed like the gas to the face was reduced compared to XM193, so I guess that makes sense if it's slightly lower pressure. It's always ran fine for me in anything I tried it in.

About 8 yrs ago I tested it at 45F to be about 2800 fps
.223 Remington, 55gr FMJ (223A) PMC Bronze, Velocity Test 5.56 Labeled XTAC is a lot warmer :D 5.56x45mm, 55gr FMJ, M193 PMC X-TAC, Velocity and Accuracy (V.A) |

I will second Buffman_LT1's comments on velocity from years ago... It has been slow for me as well.
I use it as a minimum velocity function test ammo from my AR's First column is 16", second is 20", Blank spots I never got around to. FWIW.. again years old...so YMMV, here is all that chrono data...https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/Various-Chronograph-results-16-Middie-and-20-Rifle--223-5-56/16-676005/ |

*Hold on to your AR-15s. Their magic must be very powerful, or they wouldn’t want them.*

I put a vented set screw in the gas block and wanted to test with some weaker ammo, so I should be GTG. |

PMC bronze View Quote Yeah it's weak. I notice it in all my AR's. Ejection pattern changes & so does the feel & the sound. Still goes bang & is accurate enough. |

Pmc bronze is good stuff.
EZ to pick out of mixed brass. Can reload .223 at least once w/o a trim. |
|
|
I can shoot sub MOA with it.
|
|
|
I did notice it's quite accurate.

According to the data I have on my 13.9" Criterion barrel, I get ~3000 fps with several brands of M193. With .223, I get ~2850, including PMC bronze.
You can get 5.56 for around .50 a round these days so I don't grab .223 unless it's .10 a round cheaper. Still, PMC bronze is good, reliable ammo for practicing drills. |
