Yeap.... A gun question in GD
 . I posted in the AK tech forum also, but figured GD gets the bulk of traffic...A buddy of mine asked me a question that I couldn't answer. OTHER THAN the Chinese type 56's, were there any other UNDER FOLDER AK's used? Any of the Soviet aid rifles shipped in AKMS' config (or earlier milled folders)? Any other countries ship em folders? Thanks gang |

A friend that ran recon out of CCC in MACV-SOG
killed a Czech Advisor and recovered his VZ-58. |

Yeap.... Lots of "odd ball" stuff in Vietnam. For years, I thought Stone fucked up in "FMJ" by giving the female sniper a Vz-58. Years later I found out they were in country (still convinced that Stone just lucked out LOL). Hell.... There were even German StG-44s shipped there
BUT SPECIFICALLY.... I'm looking for evidence (either photographic or written), of under folder AKMs.... OTHER THAN Chinese Type 56s. Thanks for all the replies so far.

There were a smattering of North Korean Type 58-1 AKs also used in Vietnam.

North Korea apparently supplied rifles, some of the other commie countries as well, but primarily China. Damn, beat by hours.

Granted this wasnt Vietnam, but it just goes to show you the proliferation of Soviet bloc weapons to all theaters that commie terrorists were fighting for oppressive governments. |
