They haven't even built a mock up to show off to the public yet. Just this little model. Probably going to be awhile before it flies.

Does it come with a slurpee dispenser in the cockpit?

If it's anything like the knockoff small arms they have created, it might be a while before it can actually function as intended.

In fact, I wonder if it EVER will function as intended.

The plane will smell like curry and no army within a thousand miles will want to be near it. Pretty fucking genius.

It won’t. Unless their intent is to either never fly or just crash.

I had an Indian mechanical engineer ask me if the inspection department uses gage pins just yesterday. And he’s one of the better Indian mechanical engineers I have worked with.

I’d bet dollars to doughnuts we could supply them with three planes and a complete set of drawings and they still wouldn’t be able to make a working plane.

Didn't India make the worst military issued rifle in history?

I'm sure absolutely no IP theft from the US by any of the millions of H1Bs will be incorporated.

The INSAS, a theoretically workable amalgamation of parts from guns ranging from old to very old. Made with noticeably less build quality than patio furniture.

They need to be thinking drones.

You don’t need a runway, just a backyard.

It will take a long time and likely under perform. But some of those Indians studying in the US, UK and Canada will return home and apply their knowledge there. But it will probably happen eventually.

They already have a light fighter, although not stealth. I also don't expect it to be amazing but I assume it is good enough to fight similar non-stealth planes.

The Chinese stealth bomber is a direct copy of the B2.

Probably true of almost every country on Earth. Japan would probably be the next closest in terms of ability.

First heard of that thing shortly after W Bush was elected the first time. Think they are still working the kinks out of that one.

Inevitably it'll turn into yet another nepotism make-work jobs scam.  It's India, so corruption is inevitable.

Having toured Indian manufacturing facilities as part of contract negotiations, I doubt their ability to build this wholly domestically.

Small aside...James May's (Capt Slow on Top Gear) travelogue on India is kind of fascinating, if you're interested in one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Called Our Man in... various countries. Germany sucks, the rest are pretty interesting.

And C130. They make a ton of stuff for production C130s.

They’re fucking miserable to work with though.

Most American equipment isn't wholly sourced domestically either. This will probably use some systems from other countries at least initially.

With a little cleanup that could look like something out of a Bollywood film.
