Nothing like stuffing those with 10 paper caps and having the thing break in half at the two posts on either side.

Had this set in the late 1950s. Played with it a million times.

Also had BB guns and knives when I was in kindergarten. Didn't get a real gun (bolt action .22) until I was 10.

We used to throw those up in the air as hard as we could, and then scatter. No one wanted to catch it.

Can’t post pics but the old monogram/revell models.  For the time great detail.  I built a NOS kit from the 80s recently and it was so fun not worrying about super detail

My dentist office had a treasure chest to pick out a toy after the appointment.

One of my favorite things were the foam WW2 airplanes.

Usually got a day or so out of them until someone accidentally stepped on it.

My father was planning on putting this in the trash. I’m glad I saved it. Fond memories of playing with it.
Wish I had the little hammer that came with it.

Our church had so many toys similar to that in the nursery for the kids to play with.

They had to have been 30+ years old but still held up great.

Can't think of many toys today that will last 30 years in a children's nursery.

Had a lot of Fisher Price stuff like this too.

The elevator would work with a crank, parts were not broken off, for some reason they just held together.

Back to the pistol cap bombs. Back in my youth, I would set up the battlefield with little green army men on the patio and drop the bombs from the second story window on the Germans. Had a string attached to the bomb for easy reloading.
I’m sure I’m not the only that did this.

50 years later I still have those same cap bombs in my dresser drawer.

When we went to see the Spruce Goose in the eighties there was a guy selling something like those but had a curved wing. Orange, white and blue with a steel clip weight on the nose. Maybe a 6” wingspan. He was tossing them in various loops. I set it up at the hotel air conditioner and it just hovered for several minutes until it shut off. Loved that thing. From the second floor it would glide really far.

@Berreta_Jerry

The minibike kit came from gopowersports.com

I really enjoyed this project.  My kids are grown and out of the house.

They have a few different models and any would be a great for a father and son project in the garage.  Prep, paint, and wrench turning and years of fun.  Possibly having to create a few easy parts.

I’m 6’1” and weigh 200lbs, 60 years old.  I get the mail on it a couple times a week.  People actually stop what they are doing and watch me go down the road!  Probably thinking, “What the heck…. I want one!”

Hell ya on the yoyos.
Who decided when yoyo season started?

I remember when school started for the year everyone was playing marbles. A few months later the marbles were gone and everyone had yoyos.

Then there was a few of us playing mumblity peg at the end of the football field. We didn't have marbles or yoyos.

Simple? Here is simple:  A plastic straw and a bag of dried peas.  Us kids in the neighborhood would have shooting wars across streets with those home made blowgun pea shooters!
Really fun and little risk of injury.

Much safer than throwing rocks at each other.
