The contenders were the gun to have when I shot IHMSA silhouette tournaments back in the 80s.

Another cheer for return of the Compass.
My 06 will do sub moa easily.
By the time I made up my mind to get one in 300 win mag s&w had pulled the plug.

I would rather see a shrouded barrel.

I wonder if SSK would do them if you asked.

I think that's the price for a lot of 5. If it is, it's not horrible for new manufacture.

That's, um, a remarkably good suggestion.

But think about it folks, where's the fun in that?!

Reduced case capacity and a hot load of #7, in the most bestest round ever? Fuck, stuff that died before will die sooner faster now! The extra, extra terestool, tarresat (fuck it, space aliens!) fucking assholes that got dead yesterday will be way more deader today sooner!

10mm: The only round in history that took down a space station, a comet, and that bitch-ass planet Mercury in a single shot.

There are a ton of hunting rifles being sold in the states that have recently allowed straightwall cartridges for deer hunting. If they could relaunch the Compass or something similar in 350 Legend, 400 Legend, 450 Bushmaster they could capitalize rapidly on that market. It won't last forever as the initial buying frenzy will be over in a couple more seasons.

A compact/short bolt action for AR15 length cartridges would be good.

Encore in similar choice in calibers would also be a good start. Or Contender really.

That is good news for a change! I've wanted a 7-30 SS Waters barrel for some time now. New barrels for the Contender and Encore are much needed.

Related question, if you had barrels in the following

Group 1
.17 Remington
.22 jet
.22 Hornet
.222

Group 2
7mm TCU
7-30 Waters
6.5 TCU
.35 Rem
30-30

Which would you keep? I have reloading components for all.

Seems to be a lot of overlap.

They should approach George Hoenig about a license to produce his twist-action . They can make it single-shot , that'd be fine ...soo fine .

They could make it look like a Hawken ....put a sexy little 7-30 Waters in it ...

Coyote Creek sort of  took up that role, but without T/C, they're just an outdoor shop.

I really like the Katarina configuration too, my Encore muzzleloader is a Katahdin as well, 20".  The short barrel doesn't hurt velocity much, and it's really handy.

I just got my 12ga Encore barrel back from being shortened to a 18" and threaded for chokes, looking forward to seeing how that works out.

Still have my T/C Renegade .54 cal that I bought in the old Woolco(Wolworth) store back in the late 70's.  That is a deer killing machine with the poly patched .54 roundballs and 90 gr of Pyrodex or Triple 7 powder.  I think it puts the deer down just as hard as my 30-06.  That double trigger is fantasticly light when you set it.

I understand that reference. Hers was a .223 as I recall.

I've wanted a .223 barrel for mine for years.

Maybe I'll finally buy one. I do see them from time to time on eBay and GB.
