That's going to take some time and money to fix.

Powerful winds, even up north, with low level scud just whizzing on by. Downtown is going to be messy tomorrow, with all of those windows sucked out. |

Sitting in the dark because the transformer blew at the height of the storm. It got real sketchy fast with rotating high wind and rain so I was planning to hunker down in the bathroom if the roof started peeling off. Stopped after about 15 minutes and now without power and internet except for my phone.

Out of curiosity, what wind speeds are modern skyscraper windows designed for resisting?

A bunch of transmission towers went down in Katy,
Ch13 ABC News stated 75 mph winds in places. I'm about 30 miles west and my weather station recorded 25 mph winds with gust of 30 mph. 1.5 inches of rain. |

Just heard 40% of Harris Co is without power at the moment with power lines down "all over the place". Apparently some major widespread damage.

Our power is out. My daughter sent those same pics of the transmission towers down to me.
When I saw the wind and lower clouds coming from the east - north east and the system coming from. West nw, I knew something was going to happen close by. I was out watching and listening the whole time. At 1730 it looked like dusk. The sky was green and the wind howling and whipping trees around. Luckily it was a little south of here but it was hairy for a bit. |

Lost our side of the double fence and the landscaping adjacent. Thankfully Lucy wasn't parked right there at the time. Fuuuuuu those waterlogged panels were heavy. Was due for replacement anyway. Looks like a Cat1 or Cat2 hurricane hit central Houston. |

We had some bad weather last weekend, too. It flooded over 3 feet in front of my house, broke a bunch of branches in my yard, knocked over a tree behind a neighbor's house and wrecked my garden. I thought the hail was going to punch through my living room window.
We got a piece of the weather today. Only had about 20 minutes of heavy winds and dime-sized hail. Last weekend was windier for us and quarter-sized hail. |

What makes the green grass grow? |
Me and the kid were driving through when it made it to cypress.
It was, without doubt, the craziest weather event I have been in. The straight line winds had to be 100 mph. I’m still amazed I didn’t have a tree land on me. Huge lightning strikes. It looked just fucking evil. I’ve lived on the gulf coast all my life and I’ve never seen something look that ominous. It was weird. |

Interesting, I'm up north and didn't notice anything more than 40-50mph winds. It must have been highly localized.

Hope all you guys from TX are safe.
Looks like one heck of a storm, and here I thought our 40mph gusts were bad today. |

We were in Minutemaid Park for the game. It was a hell of a storm. Everybody was a bit puckered. The wind really gets crazy funneling between the buildings downtown. Glad we got there early for a function before the game.

We’re in the Blackhorse/Bridgeland area. Heard the wife’s phone go off for the tornado warning while me and the kid were eating dinner. She comes running out of her office asking why we’re not moving. We told her no one cares, they send those out all the time. Took a look outside to appease her and our tune suddenly changed. Definitely the wildest weather system I’ve encountered. Very similar to the Derocho that went through the Midwest a few years ago. Now we enjoy the drone of generators all night lol.

Just got a text and call from the school. Schools out tomorrow in Magnolia ISD.
My daughter is a teacher in Crosby and their schools are closed tomorrow too. |

When Alicia came through Houston in 1983, we went to my grandparent's house on Antione.
The eye passed almost directly over us. That was Saturday. On Sunday we drove home down I-45 through downtown, and I'd say maybe twice as many windows were blown out. It so eerie, seeing the streets empty but glass everywhere. |

Good luck to the folks without power. I know the pain. In the Spring area last June we got hit by 90+ MPH straight line wind clocked at IAH.
I was on generator for three days running window unit and portable AC. At least it is cool tonight. |
