No doubt the 1911 is all that, but holy cow, 45 acp in a revolver….. what a blast. I recently went on the hunt for a S&W 686, but came across two 625’s in the process. Took the 5” to the range today and on my way home I struck a deal for a 3”. I can’t wait to get back to the range. The 3” is the sexiest handgun I have seen in a while.

I have a 5”. And that single action is as sweet as it comes. Double action is smooooth. A beast that just sucks up the recoil.

Waiting patiently for a blackhawk convertible to show up in stock ever.
I mostly want it for .45 colt, but the extra cylinder would mean I could actually shoot it once in a while. |

The 3” is gorgeous.
I have the snubby 625-10 model (see my avatar) which is more of a curiosity and not particularly practical - wish I could find a 3” model… |

I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt with a 45 ACP cylinder, I've never shot any 45 ACP in it. I'll have to give it a try, but I can just load some 45 Colt to 45 ACP velocity so I don't know why I would. I had a S&W model 25 but it was a 45 Colt.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk and have not used the 45 colt cylinder for over a decade. The 45 ACP cylinder shoots much better, for me anyway.
OP, your 3 inch 625 looks great. |

Moon clips make it a little of a pain but I really enjoy that revolver. |

For those of you with a lot of experience shooting fast with moon clip revolvers, do you have issues with light strikes?
I have started putting a decent amount of rounds through a Redhawk with 45 ACP on moonclips, and with .40 in a S&W 610. And the clips are not bent. I know there is an extended firing pin for the Smith. In guns without moonclips, like a 608, I have also had this happen. What do you guys do to get 100% no light strikes? |

I've had a few Blackhawks that were .45 Colts that also had the .45 ACP cylinder and it was pretty cool, hard to beat in terms of value.

The bottom one is in .45 acp. It's cheaper and more pleasant to shoot than the .357 mag.

The 625/25 are fun guns to shoot. Only God knows now many rounds I have shot thru my various models.
200gr RN with 5 gr of Bullseye! 200gr SWC. Shoot the USMC 45 ACP load with 185gr Nosler CC. We are talking pure ecstasy! I keep ammo cans full of moon clipped ammo! |

The 3 inch 625 is my grail gun. I have searched for 1 for years with no luck. The ones I have found were either $$$ or beat to shit.

Sweet purchases. I have a 625-8 and a newer 625 PC that I have shot for years in IDPA (and sometimes USPSA). They are a blast to shoot. It is also fun when you beat 2/3 of the bottom feeders in a match.
Put the x frame factory rubber grip on it if you want to shoot it really fast. It allows a very strong grip and eats a lot of the recoil. I would love a 3" just for giggles. If I ever find one in good shape and even close to reasonably priced, I will buy it. |

I have a S&W 21-4 that I use RIMZ Polymer Moon Clips with it. Easy to load and unload the clips.

My 325PD makes 45acp a bit lively, 2.75" barrel and titanium cylinder. I don't shoot lightweight/short projectiles as they have a tendency to work themselves out of the brass under recoil. One of the few guns I have ever bought due to reading about it in a fiction book (Monster Hunter International: Alpha)

45 ACP revolvers are great fun. The ammo is often easier to find at stores and the recoil is more than a 38spl but less than a .357. I have a Colt M1917 but wouldn't mind a newer Smith to shoot the heck out of.

I need to find a nice 625. I have a 325 Night Guard and a 1918 production 1917 Smith.
 And the 1917:  I need to take a new picture as it has some Sambar Stag grips on it now. I need to shoot both of them more than I do. |

I might have some hard-cast lead with silver as one of the hardening components to the mix loaded into .45-70. Just in case. No one ever said how much, percentage-wise, the silver had to be. I love those books, and Alpha in particular is awesome. Really makes me want a .45 revolver and the MHI stuff is what set me down my current path of researching the 325 series of revolvers. |
