So after 30 years, I got back the 915 that I gave to my father. I'd given him 4 mags, but I'd like to get a few more. I doubt factory mags are available base on my limited searching. Are any of the after market mags worth a crap?

Any 59 series mag will work. Mecgars are fine.

Used police trade-in S&W mags do show up now and then. Mec-Gar works perfect in my 915.

I actually preferred MecGar to factory. The last third generation magazine I bought new in the package was assembled incorrectly
 I loved the nickel finish 17 round magazines and would absolutely buy some again if I had a third gen. |

Mec-Gars come in both "Factory 15 rounder" and the "+2 (17 round) but still factory" sizes mags.
I have been running the 17s in my 5904 for several years without issue because "More Bullets is rarely a Bad Thing" applies. Many don't know it, but Mec-Gar is the "Factory" for many premium brands "OEM" mags. Bigger_Hammer  |
