I was looking for a 1911A1 a few months ago and couldn’t find one in stock. I came across this and picked it up. Swapped out the grips and trigger. Strong side only thumb safety and found a light that would fit the shorter rail.

About a month later, I found one. Both have turned out to be excellent 1911s. Only replaced the grips with real GI ones.

As received from my FFL this evening. One of the "blems" that Centerfire has been selling for $319 shipped and no tax charged.

Slide and frame are slightly different shades of parkerising.

This. It was stated so by Tisas in a email when a customer asked.

If I did not already have two 1911's in .45ACP I would have bought one of those as well. The lack of machining marks inside and out is wonderful. Decent trigger at 4.75lb and only a touch of creep if you baby it. Most definitely the best 1911 deal around today.

Nice to see a Tisas forum, cause I have 5” Duty with the Picatinny rail in 9mm on the way.

I’ll tag this for photos.

If you're worried about trigger pull, you can boost it for no cost.  Not gonna make it a 3lb pull, but it can reduce it by 1lb.

Going down a rabbit hole with mine, but enjoying the trip

Two parts away from finishing up this glovebox pistol.

-Grips were in a bin I had in storage.
-Wilson trigger out of another pistol I was working over
-Wilson beavertail for govt model
-checkered aluminum flat MSH
-commander hammer + strut
-little bit of skateboard tape on front strap

All that is left is -
-single sided extended safety
-extended "combat" magazine release

I stoned all the FC parts today and squared/polished everything up, and have a clean breaking trigger at 4.25#.

Talk to me about this!  Battle Hawk Armory has the Tanker right now for $300, and I had planned on putting a Nolwin hammer on one. Is that basically what you have done here? Was there a need for a different grip safety?

I love the look of a Commander w/ tiny GI sights and vertical cocking serrations. SDS just started offering their Tanker Commander with a looped hammer, but it's in their grey Cerakote, which I don't care for as much, and it's $100 more currently.

TIA

It's a Wilson Combat retro hammer, it dropped right in.  It's the factory grip safety, modified to fit that hammer.     I tried to mimic the Colt "rat tail" grip safety.

Excellent! I'm going to get one of these pistols on the way before they stop the $300 pricing.  I do have an O.G. Colt Commander grip safety that is very short, so I may be able to get by with that, but I would have no issue "rail-tailing" the OEM safety.

Look for them on gun.deals  Lots of $300-$350 pricing going on right now, but you have to add them to the cart.

I couldn't resist any further figured for $333 shipped it was worth a gamble. Will keep me from shooting my 1918 production 1911.

1911A1 @ $319 cash NON BLEM

Hopefully get to post pics in a week or so.

There is a need for value-priced alloy-framed 1911's. Ruger and Springfield have theirs, but they are in the $850-900 range. If you could do the Tanker and Tanker Commander with the AL frame, you'd sell a ton. I've never really liked bobtails, but that's just me.

My recipe for the perfect 1911 carry gun is: Alloy frame, 4.25 bbl, wee sights, Nowlin hammer, vertical cocking serrations, short trigger, flat MSH, std safety.

@SDSImports

Any plans to offer a Colt Mustang Clone in 380,9mm?

Also

Any plans for 1911 22LR conversions? Preferably threaded.

I’m pretty damn impressed with mine. The gun is very tight. Tighter than my 1918 colt .

Mine came with 2 Mec gar mags. The springs on the mags are pretty strong and make the slide hard to release. Drop the mag and smooth as silk. Mine also came with a cleaning rod and brush along with a plastic take down tool.

Disassembly was easy and all parts seem of quality especially for the $330 price tag.

Trigger fills nice no real discernible take up and crisp break. Don’t have a trigger gauge but say it’s less than 5lbs.

Range report.
Gun was not cleaned prior to shooting. Fired around 80-100rds of my reloads with only 2 failures towards the last mag. Slide didn’t fully close on both rounds. Possible caused by my high support grip. Gun is very accurate was hitting a 5-6” gong at 30 yards or so. 6 o clock hold.

Load was a 230gr rn coated hard cast bullet over a mid level load of 231.

Gun seems like a real winner.
