@SwanHunter or anyone else that can point me to the correct law....

I was recently told by a CCW instructor that in Illinois we are not required to transport our magazines empty, i.e. I'm on my way to the range and I can have loaded mags as long as they are not stored directly with the gun?

Is this accurate?  I thought that with one of the bills passed in the last few years, it was now a requirement that all magazines be unloaded....

Thx

15 round handgun 10 round rifle. Anything else is supposed to be used on private property as in your own or anothers land with permission or a range. No transporting loaded mags over the limits from what I understand.

I think it is pretty much said above.  It is difficult to convey.  If your mag is within crappy Pica law max capacities, it can be loaded during transport.  If capacity is above pica limit then must be transported unloaded.  This will make the world we live in safe!!!

This is probably where the Concealed Carry Instructor got his information.
