been out of the reloading game for 5-6 years but thankfully never sold any of my gear or supplies. recently rekindled my interest in centerfire rifle and found a semi local range with steel out to 1400 yards. I plan to swap out my .308 barrel on my AIAT for the 6.5 CM barrel that has never been fired. I have a bunch of creedmor brass but a bunch of it is FC, which I recall being soft and not real good for reloading, at least in my .308. Is it worth reloading FC brass for 6.5 CM considering the cost of components these days? or should I toss it and stick to Hornady and others? I plan to do my load development with 4350 and 140gr ELD-M. any suggestions on a good starting point? Thanks and wish me luck. I have no idea where to start setting up my gear after so long.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Federal rifle brass, so long as you treat it like Lake City and reduce the normal charges 1.5 to 2.0 grains in .308.

Since 6.5 Creedmoor cases are very close to .308 in size, 1.5 to 2.0 reduced charges will probably work for it too.

Federal Gold Medal Match factory ammo is still considered a gold standard for factory offerings. They must be doing something right.

I've got about 500 pieces of 1x fired FC and about  750 pieces of Hornady.
when I was loading .308 I recall the FC necks splitting after 5-6 reloading where other brass could be loaded 8-9 times.

in regards to the other reply about FGMM being the standard in match ammo, maybe so in .308 but Hornady 140 ELD-M seems to be the standard in 6.5 CM factory ammo. The other issue is even if GMM and Hornady both shot equally well, the quality of brass for subsequent reloading would tip the scale in Hornadys favor. Same reason I went to Prime ammo in .308 when I needed factory loaded. It shot on par with GMM but was much better to reload.
