Looking to replace my Vortex Razor II 3-18x50. At 46.5 oz, it's just too dang heavy. Will be ditching the A3-5 adjustable stock for an AG Composites as well.

Right now, the specs on the Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50 look great. 21.7 oz!

Others on my list are...
Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6-18x44 FFP
Burris XTR III 3.3-18x50

I currently own a NF SHV 4-14x50 FFP and an NX8 2.5-20x50. Both could be options as well, most likely the NX8 as the eye relief on the SHV is not ideal for spot and stalk hunting. But the NX8 requires some serious movement of the parallax knob.

Basically my use case is a custom build .308 that gets shot off the bench for fun, and serves as my deer hunting rifle. Whitetail, exotics, etc. Ranges from 50 - 400 are realistic.

I have a Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44 that I like.  That said, it's my only FFP scope, so I don't have much basis for comparison.  The only downside I see is that the reticle is a little thin/hard to see at 3x.

The new MK4HD’s should be on shelves in the next couple weeks. I’d wait until those hit and get some user feedback and go that route if they’re solid.

I forgot about those. Specs and MSRP looks great. Wondering if there will be a catch.

I am a big Leupold fan and have a VX3 6X18 on my 308.

I’ve owned a razor 3-18x, LHT 4.5-22x and an LRTSi 4.5-18x.  All on a 6.5CM.

The LHT was real nice compared to the other two, especially for the weight. I liked the turret setup. it’s a light setup in some Vortex PMR rings.  If you want medium/high mag and FFP it’s very hard to beat for the money.

Ultimately, I wanted a smaller, lighter scope and less mag so I settled on a VX-6HD 2-12x with Impact-45 Reticle.  I don’t miss the extra magnification, it’s crazy light, and the glass is just as good.  The Impact reticle is quite nice and SFP on a scope under ~20x is just fine considering that a shot far enough away to need drop compensation is far enough to dial up the maximum calibrated magnification.  They make the impact reticle in 2-12x, 3-15x, 4-24x, and 7-35x… and I think you can send in any of the VX5/6 scopes to them to swap reticles if you pick up a cheap duplex or something.  And all those VX-5HD and VX-6HD are super light with nice locking turrets.

I also tried a Razor HD LH 2-10x and it was a very nice ultralight scope with great glass, but just way too much of a hunting scope.  The newer LHTs are a lot better featured than the older LH.

I have a Leupold Mk5HD 3.6-18x on my hunting rifle. Its light enough to manage and has good glass. I have the CCH reticle which works very nicely for hunting. The outer edges of the crosshairs are triangular so at lower magnification they are visible and draw my eye to the center point. At max magnification its a good tree reticle with .25 mil hashes.
