We got our XM3 for a flat $20k and it had the NVG with it. Interesting to watch.

It will go for a lot more money.  It looks like it is a very rare version of the XM-3 sniper with a detachable stock.  Its one of two or three made.  The inspection tag is covering up the seam that shows the separation where the stock separates in more than half of the pictures.  The placement of the inspection tag covering that part of the stock almost looks intentional.

Very rare rifle;  https://cmpauction.thecmp.org/detail.asp?id=8313&n=DARPA-XM3-Sniper-wScope-Iron-Brigade-Armory-Serial-S6533989

After talking to one of the guys who originally worked on the Remington PSR/MSR/CSR rifles, I found out the CSR rifles actually take the PSR/MSR barrels and bolt heads! Since I have a PSR .338 Lapua Magnum bolt head and 26" .338LM prototype barrel (one-of-a-kind super fat carbon fiber wrapped Proof Research barrel, FDE cerakoted), I decided to try those putting those parts on my prototype CSR. To my surprise, the parts fit!

Here's my CSR with a prototype Proof Research carbon fiber 7.62x51mm barrel:

Here's my CSR with the prototype super fat wrapped Proof Research carbon fiber .338 Lapua Magnum barrel:

The .338LM rounds hand feed through the port in the receiver, and the shell casings eject cleanly back out the receiver port. No need to remove the bolt to feed the rounds or anything crazy like that. It probably took about 2 minutes to swap out the bolt head and barrel to the new caliber, so it's a very fast conversion! The 26" .338LM barrel is a little long for this rifle, but with extra barrel extensions, new CSR barrels can easily be made.

Since the Remington PSR has 3 different bolt heads (.308, .300WM., .338LM) and barrel extensions, the possibilities for new barrels in different calibers are near endless! This makes the Remington CSR a truly amazing and versatile rifle, especially with it's unique take-down capabilities!

Wanted to give you guys a heads-up that EuroOptic and 3 other dealers are getting these scopes, EuroOptic has 140 of each type. NightForce is making 300 of each of the 2 types of Mil-Spec scopes, these 600 total scopes are being split between the 4 dealers who are receiving them. I have no affiliation with EuroOptic or any of the other dealers, I'm just letting fellow clone builders and collectors know about this deal. An email should be going out later today, you can call them to order the scopes right now since they haven't been uploaded to their website yet.

The 2 NightForce Mil-Spec scopes are:

1-8x24, SU-294/VPS S-VPS

7-35x56, SU-296/PVS P-VPS

I have no idea if they'll get the 4-20x50 Mil-Spec scope, maybe that will arrive next year, but I have no idea.

1-8x is used on any small arms, like the URG-I

7-35x is used on larger sniper rifles, like the Barrett Mk22

The 3 NightForce Mil-Spec scopes and 2 Leupold scopes are pretty much going to be on most US military rifles over the next few years

That's apparently why they weren't in this release of scopes, and why we assume that they might be released in the future once they fulfill military contracts. The 4-20x is EXTREMELY popular in the military, and it's being used everywhere! A buddy of mine actually uses one on his issued Mk13 Mod 7, instead of the 7-35x.

Is anyone here always on the Sniper's Hide forum? If so, please check out my Christmas gift thread, I'm giving away 10 presents to 10 lucky forum members who participate in the thread! All you need to do is make a post with "M40" in it, that's it! Please read the rules so you understand what's going on and to prevent being disqualified. If you don't already have a Sniper's Hide account, then I'm sorry, but you can't just make an account right now and join the guft thread (I want the parts to go to existing members, not a bunch of random people who will create a new account that they'll never use, just in the hopes of getting one of these rare gifts). Nothing is being sold or traded, these are 100% free Christmas gifts that I'm giving away to my fellow community members!

Even though all of the presents I'm giving away are awesome, the big prize is the original USMC M40 Redfield 40X scope base/rings! I've sold original USMC 40X scope bases before to fellow collectors, they're worth about $2,000 each, so this is a very expensive piece of history! The 40X scope bases are rarely sold publicly, I think only 1 or 2 loose 40X scope bases have sold publicly in the past decade or longer! This is a very unique opportunity to acquire an extraordinarily rare and original USMC M40 part, and it might be a decade before another one becomes available publicly!

If you already have a Sniper's Hide account, please check out these threads and throw your hat in the ring to try and win an amazing Christmas gift! I'll be drawing the winners on Christmas Day, so there's plenty of time left to participate! Please let me know if anyone has any questions about the gifts, I'm more than happy to answer anything and provide more pics/info! Good luck to those who join the gift thread!

No idea. I rarely go over there unless some bit of info that I'm looking for can only be found there. When it was owned by Scout I remember going there for something and was glad I never joined. It doesn't seem that bad now though.

Gentlemen, I have a great update! As you may have noticed, we just hit 4 pages in the Christmas gift thread! I promised to add an item for each new page that's added to the gift thread, and I just added a fantastic gift to the list, it's gift #11! I added a new-in-box, never used, and from my personal collection a unique Emerson Knives Double-Struck CQC-17 knife! You'll notice that the knife doesn't have a serial number, that's because it's the only Emerson CQC-17 that has been made with a double-struck logo! It was done purposefully by Emerson just to make an interesting variation of the CQC-17 for one lucky collector (who was me, until I decided to gift it to a new lucky person in the gift thread!).

I'm not sure how much stuff I have in my collection, I promise to try to add a new item for each new page that gets added to the Christmas gift thread! That way we keep some better odds of winning a gift as more people join the fun!

Also, I have another big update! The Christmas gift thread is moving along nicely, so I've decided that if we hit 5 pages, I'll add a new gift to the list AND I'll donate $500 to the Scout Sniper Association (SSA)! I'm certain that we will hit 5 pages in that thread, so when I make the $500 donation to the SSA, I'll make sure that the donation is made from all of the Sniper's Hide members who have participated in the Christmas gift thread! This isn't a donation from me, it's a donation from all of us in this community!

Here's a link to the Scout Sniper Association's website, please check it out when you have time! The SSA is a phenomenal organization and pretty much ever dollar that's donated goes towards fulfilling our mission of supporting active duty and reserve USMC Scout Snipers (which also includes MARSOC and Recon snipers). We don't have any paid positions, and we have very few annual costs, such as running our website. So, you can rest easy that any donation that you make is going directly towards helping our sniper community! Please ask me any questions about the SSA that you might have, I'm more than happy to provide any answers!

https://scoutsniper.org/

If anyone here would like to make their own donation to the Scout Sniper Association, please click on the link below, and it will take you directly to the SSA's donation page. There is no obligation to make a donation to the SSA in order to participate in the Christmas gift thread, it's completely up to you if you'd like to make a donation. Thank you very much in advance to anyone here does make a donation to the SSA, your support is greatly appreciated!

I hope you guys like this morning's update!

Semper Fi!

Last call to participate in the Christmas gift thread! If you want to participate, please just make 1 post that only says "M40" in it in the thread I've linked to below. I'll make a cutoff post at midnight (Central Time), then I'll draw the winners tomorrow, and I'll have the gifts in the ma this week (after collecting shipping information from the lucky gift winners).

Here's a link to the gift thread, and it's very easy to participate! Everyone on the Sniper's Hide forum gets to make only 1 post in this thread, and please make sure that you only have the word "M40" in your post:

I know that you're not over on Sniper's Hide, so you can't participate. But, you do post a ton of information and make any forum thread better with your presence. And it's Christmas Eve, so please shoot me a message with your shipping information when you have time, I'm going to send something out to you!

For everyone with an account on Sniper's Hide, there's less than 2 hours left to make an "M40" post in my Christmas gift thread! And we're only a few posts away from a new page, and with each new page added I add another gift to the pile! And I'll be making a $500 donation to the Scout Sniper Association in the name of everyone who has participated in the Christmas Gift thread (and @SecretSquirell, lol)!

Fools and their money, etc.....

I own a Unertl spotting scope I purchased in the mid 1980's and it's a great scope. Modern rifle scopes in the $3000 to $4500 price range are superior in every way to the original Unertl 10X and will have collector value decades from now just like the Unertl.

Shmidt & Bender military scopes are the way to go.

We have to remember that some people are well off and may have a history of use in service that drives their bidding process. These scopes (and the rifle) can be built better for a lot cheaper.

You don't clone, do you? Fiscal responsibility is very low on our list of priorities.

Finally got my stock in hand from HS Precision. About to send it off to RWS for profiling and build. What glass is acceptable other than the Leupold mk4? Anything with some more magnification? Or should I cheat a little and just throw a Leupold mk5 on it?

That's going to be sick.

The ones I've seen in the field have all had Mark 4s on them - both with and without illumination. That being said, a Mark 5 5-25 would absolutely slay on that beast and frankly, that's probably what dudes would be using right now if they were still in service.

If I couldn't find a Mark 4, I'd definitely go Mark 5 5-25.

And honestly, the Mark 5 5-25 has a very similar appearance to the old Mark 4s - to me anyway, it definitely fits better aesthetically.

I second that notion of the Mark5 5-25 from current issue options.  I could have sworn there was a photo floating around somewhere on the web of an M24A2 that was paired with a NightForce optic.

I have a NightForce Mil-Spec NXS 3.5-15x50 with a 7.62x51 M118LR BDC elevation turret available. The old NF Mil-Spec NXS with thr BDC turrets are pretty rare, it's the only one I've ever owned and I've had 60+ NF Mil-Spec scopes! It's also from the early 2010's, so it's from about the same GWOT period as your M24. Even though these scopes may or may not have been used on M24A2's, it still looks like it belongs on the rifle and he BDC elevation turret is absolutely perfect if you plan on using M118LR ammo! Shoot me a message with your email address if you're interested, and I'll send you some photos. Hope this possibly helps you out!
