have an area 419 pic rail section on order and an ADM QD mount for the bipd, since i only ever have issues with the swivel stud mounting getting loose.

First time out, sighted in with some junk ammo, then shot some factory Hornady ELD-M at 200 yards. I Was quite pleased. Then had some random loads working out to use Ramshot Hunter that I had, it also shot pretty well. I am just starting load development, but I cam away pretty excited about full potential.

I took my Bergara out to my first PRS match this Saturday.  Was really my first time shooting long range. Definitely my first time dialing a scope.  Had to get my velocity before the match with the help of a guy with a magnetospeed since I don't have one.  I used Hornady Match 147 ELD.  My barrel wasn't broken in and apparently velocities can speed up as a barrel breaks in.  Well, that is apparently what happened and my shots were going higher each stage starting around the 5th stage I shot.  I actually thought my scope must have been loose.  There were some pretty tough stages that required dialing between every target.  I have a pic of my dope card for the stage that required the most dialing.  A good tip someone gave me was to put the target descriptions on there so I could keep track of the order as well.  With that, I did make some hits and didnt get DQed for a safety violation.  Those were my two goals.  It was a blast!  I plan on doing at least 2 more matches this year.

Most barrels will gain 50-75 fps in a 100-200 rounds. No wind holds? Every match you shoot it will get easier and easier. Having fun is what it’s all about.

My first step precision rifle in quite some time. Tikka T3 Tactical A1 and a Steiner T5Xi in 6.5 creedmoor flavor

So far, the length of pull is an issue. You can change it via spacers, but I do wish it had more adjustability.

That's what tipped me over the edge, the LOP and how it required spacers and the extra tool.

New barrel came in today.  22" Proof...very excite.

I always have.....got this for dad years ago. Hes moved on to lever guns. I went to sell it and wasnt offered much, so i decided to make it my own. Its always done 1/2 moa for me. Already doped to 1035yds, so now i just shoot it and wear in the fresh paint :)

Funny thing is a savage short action is the same as a remmy long action!

I had planned to upgrade it at some point to something with more forgiving parallax and better light transmission.  After doing some lowlight courses, I also added "more reticle illumination" to that list.  Wanting a fully illuminated reticle, or at least illuminated numerical values on the vertical stadia illuminated for drops, is one of the things that made me skip over the ATACR and go for the ZCO.

I’ve literally never lit up a reticle on my precision rifles. If it’s that dark it’s pvs30 time.

That's cool. I might do the same if I had a PVS30, but doesn't it completely degrade image quality/magnification for any shots beyond 200m?

Have a had a few instances in courses and competition where I wanted the solution on the gun/in the reticle at dusk.  Not having to F around with clip ons and other things.  It's worked out well.

No, a PVS30 isn't limited to 200m. Shots out to 1k and sometimes beyond depending on light are do-able. That said, I get wanting a fully illuminated reticle. I hunt in eastern NC for deer and coyote and last minute shots at 600 or more yards where I can see the target but not my reticle without turning on illum are pretty common. So it's dark, but not dark enough for NV yet. No, I'm not shooting deer past legal shooting time or with NV.

As to fidgeting with a clip-on, pvs-30s,27s etc all use quick detach throw levers so they're not difficult to put on. To be honest though I can't imagine any kind of scenario where you'd need a clip-on in a class or competition that it wasn't already on your rifle before you start that course of fire. The time span between being able to still see through your scope to needing NV isn't small enough it could hit you in the middle of a stage etc. Remember, it's called night vision and not low light vision.

Hell yea, Tikka gng!

Finally confirmed zero with the can, no x axis correction, 0.6 down.  Not bad, and tightened groups a bit.  Gonna borrow a LabRadar after the holidays and see how velocity looks suppressed.

Man you have REALLY good videos been watching you for a bit had no idea this was you. Nicely done- entertaining with great info share and most importantly done without the 10 minute comedy sketch or he man swat sniper vibe. Exactly what the sport needs. Smart considered and well done videos. Thank you.

Really glad you went out and got into it.  A lot of folks avoid doing things like that so you going out there and getting the first match under your belt speaks very well for you. Congratulations. I am getting back into precision after many years off post major surgery and I am a bit nervous going out there and potentially failing but need to push myself to do it.
