Beautiful rifles guys, so whats the closest match to Magpuls FDE? Hard to tell from the pics without knowing who painted their furniture and who didn't.
Thanks Glen |

I used Brownell's Alumahyde II Earth Brown on my YHM foregrip above. It is a tad darker than the Magpul FDE as you can see, but it is close. I have tried Aervoe Dark Earth and everything else in a can. The Alumahyde was the closest.

It'll be very close to the same FDE. From the few pics i've seen of the FDE SOPMOD with the FDE TDVG, you'll be happy. HS1 HS1 |

Thanks.....It's Norrell's molycoat. The optic is a Meopta Kdot. It's a true 1x to 4x with an illuminated reticle. Bomber |

Ok Mark
How in the world did you paint the Eotech and Laser and have the letters show up in black? That is probably the best FULL FDE rifle I've seen. What version of FDE is that? |
|
|
Thanks, It's just a start. Everything was sandblasted, and DuraCoat'ed Magpul FDE. The barrel and suppressor were sprayed with Woodland Tan DuraHeat (supposed to handle up to 1800 degrees F.). I plan on a variety of enamel camo patterns...I'll be able to clean them off with thinner, without harming my FDE basecoat. The "plastic" parts, minus the stock, are FDE. As for the lettering, I'll start a thread in a few days explaining that process. |

I know..I know... It's been in-process for over a month You and ML are the only Arfcommers that know how I did the lettering. I'll share in a few days...pics to be taken of the process. My rough test for the "special" camo pattern came out REALLY nice (clever and unique). |

Modest? How about Awesome Work, Mr HK .45. Now I need a FDE Rifle. Wondering if I should convert one of my Existing Carbines... Nathan |

That set-up is incredible.. i think i have a good idea of how you pulled the lettering off, but i'll wait for the actual story.
