Might be a dumb question but I swapped out my rail on my DD upper and while reinstalling the gas block taper pin into the low pro gas block I was doing it pretty hard and made some gouges into the gas block. Is there any issues I should be aware of with that or the pin being installed to far into the hole?

Taper pin? If so, the taper pin will only seat as far as the hole taper cut allows.

W/o pics, it's impossible to address the "gouges".

Yeah I believe DD uses taper pins. Picture added. I put some cerakote over it so it doesn’t rust

Easy to do without the right tool.
Cupped tip punch will help next time.
