Way too many choices and to many variations at clubs....
If you want to begin, from scratch, an AR in A-1 or A-2 config., light profile barrel, will get you going on most any course of fire. Stock, single stage trigger, Just a reliable rifle with crispy sights is a good tool. Have fun. |

I like to use stock guns without a lot of modification.
At most 3-gun matches (I go to) the free float forend is not needed. (I like) single stage trigger for fast CQB. 16" barrel is perfect (for me). Either an EOTech or Aimpoint works great (for me). I've used both. (I like my) sights to stay cowhitnessed in case something happends to the electronic sight. (I) like the adjustable stock, (I now have a Magpul), because I shoot most of the year. Summer T-shirt, winter jacket. Adjustable length of pull helps with clothing. You have to find out what best works for YOU. I see alot of different setups and it works for them.   |

It also depends on the matches you'll be shooting. If everything it within 50 or 100 yards, that's one thing. If you have some "real" rifle shooting, that's another.

I use my other AR with the NSN/Docter thingy if the 3-gun match is going to have distance shots out to 150 yds. There's one match I go to that has one stage dedicated for fifteen targets staggered from 50 yds out to 150 yds. This is where the NSN shines. Of course the Docter cures all the CQB shots.
