PRI has mags listed on thier web sitee in 5, 10, 15 and 25 round capisity. According to the current issue of SOF Hornaday and Federal will make ammo with Winchester and Wolf are considering it. It looks like availibility is getting close. I would like to try a Model 1 upper to have when the ammo comes out but I know nothing about Model 1.

If they can just get the frigging loads down then JT will start making them.  They have the bolts and bbls ready to go.

PRI is the best source for mags - PRI 6.8 mags

Those sucker aren't cheap but I would hope they may come down a little when there is more of a market and competition for them.

Question - Are those new, specifically designed 6.8 mags or are they modified 5.56 mags? (I'm guessing 6.8 as it sounds like nobody has come up with a solid solution on how to modify 5.56 mags to work with more than 5-10 rounds?)

For a upper - 6.8 Complete Upper

I noticed that it lists the twist rate as 1/9.5. Is that considered to optimum twist rate for this round?

Thanks

Edit to add - This round just screams SPRgery to me!

Hmmmm 1/9.5 twist seems a little fast there, but it is probably close enough.

why does it seem fast?  Don't some .308's have a 1/9?

7.62Nato (.308) is normally 1/10 or 1/11.25 (original Armalite SS Match Barrels).
IIRC, my MSTN 6.8 SPC is 1/10.

As for now. . . I am out of ammo

OK, OK, I have 3 rounds left

You going to put those 3rds on ebay?

thanks pcurtis.  I like your idea about the three rounds on ebay.  But I'm not that desperate to pay over price for them.  I'll wait.  I am excited about that round.  It's just like the pt cruisers though.  When they first came out, people were paying over sticker for them and I told my wife, that car will be a dime a dozen after a while you watch.  I'm sure I wasn't the only one that predicted that.  That one was easy to see coming.  But I hope the same is true for this round.  It'll be good for all of us if the price is reasonable.  On midway the fmj are only $9 and some change for a box, which to me seems pretty good for a brand new round.  Now they just got to get em.

I was wrong, the fmj's are like 12.90 a box.  That's still not that bad though.

give us more updates when you shoot it again!!!!  do some accuracy work, eh?  Are the chambers tighter on the 6.8 in comparison to a 5.56 nato chamber?
