I got a free SS barrel from a buddy of mine; he’s a maintenance guy for an apt. building, and often gets free stuff due to people leaving it behind after moving or being evicted. Oddly-enough, it’s a 15”. However, the rifling is good, and it’s in nice shape, but the markings on it are unknown to me. Theres a little star (kinda like BCM) and a #4 on the chamber … Any clue???

Geissele appears to have similar markings

Did you measure with a rod and a bolt locked in the extension?  A barrel that measures 15" with a tape measure from end to end, will likely measure 14.5 in actuality.

Just curious as to how you got the dimension.

Shit; I guess that’s a score then.
Who the hell just leaves a barrel behind?

And why’s it a 15”? I’m guessing so you can pin/weld a muzzle device?

Tape measure end-to-end.
So it’s a 14.5 then?

Interesting.

Several manufacturers use extensions marked similar.

"4" denotes  M4 ramps. As for the asterisk, I couldn't tell you.

Seat a bolt into the extension, measure from bolt face to tip of muzzle, that will be your barrel length.

Now you must build a rifle around it.

Barrel length is measured from the bolt face.  The bolt seats about 1/2" deep into the extension so you need to subtract from the overall length.
