I'm kind of new to this. I just got a borescope for the first time and this is one of my DD MK18 barrels. About 3 years old, not many rounds down range. Maybe 1000 and one soft cleaning in between (though I do keep them a little slick since I can't get out to shoot much.)
Does this look like copper fouling or rust to you? I suppose I'm confused because of the darker spots. MK18 Barrel On the other hand, one of my newer DD Barrels has the darker orange spots: Newer DD Barrel |

Try to pass some boretech through it and it'll look like new.
Keep in mind you want SOME fouling in there so it is a good idea to just do a "quick and dirty" style cleaning where you might pass a bore solvent in it but you're not really going after it, so to speak. Otherwise you'll have to do some fouling shots before you're back to your accuracy you expect from the rifle. At 25 yards though, it probably doesn't matter much with fouling shots and you probably won't really notice it. |
