Back in 2011 I build an AR with an Adams Arms upper.  This is primarily a hunting rifle.  It looks similar to the upper below.

Now I would like to attach a sling and possibly a vertical grip.

Is there a good way to attach a magpul sling and a vertical grip without buying a rail?

Or should I save the $200-$400 on rail, grip, etc and buy LBE or low magnification optics?

MAGPUL MOE handguards will work, and have M-LOK slots.

sorta like this, except this one is mid-gas, yours is carbine gas, a little shorter on the handguard.




MAGPUL sling mount:

Easy/cheap option, go with a magpul MOE carbine length drop-in. That will allow for M-lok attachments.
