Beautiful worn patina, used but not abused. If this thing could talk...

Question though, is the slop in the trigger normal? It breaks and functions fine, it's just that there's some slop in it.

Beautiful old looking girl there.  Mine's a bit older and doesn't have any 'slop' in the trigger.

Slop as in it is loose and swings if you don't have a finger on the trigger? Normal in my experience.

Yeah, swinging trigger. Was it designed to do that?

Sweet! Only a year younger than my old Flatfender! Would have been cool to find a '47 model 94 as well. Either way, it would do great in a scabbard mounted to the inside of the windshield frame. Perfect for cruising around Cecil Webb!

Min'se a 30-30, I was adamant to find one in a more common caliber. Thank you though!!

Floppy trigger is normal.  I engineered a "simple" fix for this but it requires machining of the trigger and the addition of a spring and detent.

I'm curious now.  I have a 1976 Model 94 and I'll have to check it out.

How hard is that? Is that something I can do myself?

My 1974-ish model had the floppy trigger.

With that cheesy sort of “grip safety” that required you to compress the lever against the butt to move the trigger block out of the way of the trigger.

Kinda wish I still had that rifle. But I don’t miss that trigger a bit.

The only "difficult " part was drilling a vertical hole in the trigger for the spring and detent.  I used a mill at work to do that.  The spring bears the detent against the sear spring and removes the slop.

This.

I have a 1922, 1954 and 1981. They all do the swing, as designed.

I am not gonna mess with lever rifle perfection, the guys who made it that way were smarter than me.

Is that grip safety actually supposed to work? I've got a gently used 94 with a hair trigger and that joker does not engage. It's either been 'Bubba'd' or worn out.
