While searching for the Pulsar GD400BN, 4000W Portable super-quiet Dual Fuel, I came across this discount on a pretty decent 2.2Kw dual fuel unit at WallyWorld.
Pulsar 2200W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator, $419 It's regularly $479 at WalMart and currently $479 on Amazon with a 5% off coupon. It has a 4.5/5 rating on Amazon and seems to be a good price for a dual fuel unit. |

Has anyone bought the Predator 5000 yet and tried to run it on natural gas?

I ordered a Pulsar GD400BN dual fuel genny yesterday for $569 with a $30 off coupon on Amazon. I missed the sale last week for $509, but figure it's still pretty reasonable. Rated for 3200W continuous on gasoline, 3000 on propane. I intend to run only propane and replace my 3 year old AiPower SUA2000id dual fuel 2K unit. The Pulsar will parallel with my old Predator 3500 converted to trifuel, running on natural gas.

Anyone have a link for a Predator 2K inverter carburetor? Mine I let get gummed up and want a spare while I tear it apart.

They have exploded diagrams with part numbers on their website, so you could probably get it direct from them. |

I changed oil and spark plug, it fired right up. Carb seems fine, I did a 2 hour load test with a 1500 watt space heater, starts with 2-3 pulls now. Was using Pri-G, Stabil marine and some Seafoam.

I don't have a good sense of the power these are putting out. What all could you run on one inverter generator?
As a kid, the old style we would run intermittently through the day to power the fridge and some lights and the well pump. |

As a kid, the old style we would run intermittently through the day to power the fridge and some lights and the well pump. View Quote The power output doesn't change just because it's an inverter generator. You can get them in all sorts of sizes similar to "traditional" generators. If you have a 2000W inverter and 2000W traditional generator they will both be able to make 2000W because that's what they're built for (sort of, many 2kW generators are really rated for about 1800W continuous, 2kW peak for when motors start up). When both are at full power they will probably sound about the same and use about the same fuel amount too. The big difference is that at half load the traditional one still has to run at full speed to make the correct voltage and frequency. The inverter one can idle down a bit however, making it quieter and more fuel efficient. For sizing look at the items you actually want to run at the same time and add together their wattage ratings. Modern LED lights are almost negligible unless you have dozens of them - a "60W equivalent" bulb only draws about 6 or 7W these days. Generally anything to do with large motors (like well pumps) or HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, or refrigeration) will be your largest loads. How much of that do YOU feel you actually need to power during power outages that are likely in your area (i.e. is your area likely to be down for hours or weeks, and during summer storms or winter ice). Also check if any of your "must have" devices are 240V as that will up the size and price generally. |

Bumping this thread, as FL sales tax holiday for hurricane supplies starts tomorrow. I've rolled the dice without a genny for over 20 years, but looking to finally pull the trigger this year.
Where's the latest and greatest deals Arfcom? Looking for something in the 2000-3500W range. |

View Quote https://www.ebay.com/itm/314644637511 This was posted a while back in the thread and I picked one up for my parents. It just ran 28 hours powering their home after storm damage. Data point of one and limited usage, but it was a trooper. Right at 12 hours on a 15 pound propane bottle. Ran 8000btu window A/C, three fridge/freezers, ceiling fans, lights, computer, TV. Had to start the A/C and fridges sequentially as it couldn't handle the startup load on all of them simultaneously. I suspected that either the water pump or microwave would trigger an overload so didn't try either one. Whole house was connected with bridged hots so a few little loads in there also like clocks, night lights, phone chargers etc. Electric start was a plus. The oil drain could be easier, but we managed. It has built-in wheels and a handle if you have a smooth surface to move it around, but the wheels aren't good for rough terrain. It's a little heavy for my back to manhandle it solo. I'm going to put together a generator cord with a cheap ammeter on the cord so I can easily monitor power usage. https://www.ebay.com/itm/313965563309 This one is very similar, $100 less and 3200p/2900w instead of 4000p/3200w. |
