My wife and her grandmother wanted to see some movie about some English royalty who had a speech impediment. We walked in and I saw a poster Battle Los Angeles and said "I'm going to that."
Seems like now the hero of every movie is a SEAL. Used to be action heroes were "former Marines" or "in Nam" I though it was a great movie |

So... what was up with the Giant Laser Designator that looked like it was plugged into some external power source?
I know that Ground based Laser Designators exist for Forward Air Controllers, but just not sure how "portable" that big old gizmo or the power source / battery to run it would it was but it definitely was a plot point for the big finale. Bigger_Hammer |

I wish they'd made sequels. Like, Battle Scranton, or Battle Oklahoma City. I'd watch those.

It was nice to see them actually run out of ammo and make mag changes.

Quoted: So people still rip the piss out of this movie or has it finally got some of that Starship Troopers like cult vibe behind it? I watch it at least a couple of times a year and love it, the action scenes are superb! View Quote I’d say neither. I like it. It’s not too cheesy, it’s not too removed from ‘maybe…’ |

Fuggit. I read half of page 1 of this thread, broke out the movie and rewatched it.

It's a USMC recruiting movie and I love it
Too bad there wasn't a part 2 or other movies that spawned from it with battles taking place elsewhere. |

I saw it in the theater, then purchased it as soon as it was available on DVD. I was disappointed it did not get a sequel.

The alien invaders seemed to know about getting infantry tactics and armor support, with their walking Anti tank gun

The scene where they prep the boat while AC/DCs playing rocks View Quote Don't get any more 'murica than stealing an Iowa to go shoot aliens in the face while Thunderstruck plays.... don't think about it too much....just....let it happen... I like Battle LA too.... |

Good to see our President in Olympus has Fallen was a retired Marine NCO. It's a fun movie.

An excellent, very entertaining movie even if it is full of Marines.

I thought the cgi was done very well.
I don’t normally watch Oscar nominated movies anyway, so for me, it was great. |

I think for the most part people like the movie. Usually gets many more positive responses on here than negative. Hell we have members who think Lord Of The Rings is horrible.
ETA Speaking of LOTR. Supposed to be coming back to theaters in June. |

Quoted: Good old fashioned bug-eyed monster science fiction. If I'd change anything, it would be to get rid of the talking head on the TV. We don't need to know about why the BEM's are here, just that they are trying to kill everyone. The back story on the captain was sort of lame and melodramatic, but necessary I guess. Just don't overthink it and enjoy the weapons fire and alien wasteage. View Quote IIRC, the back story on why the ETs came here gives the reason that they could be defeated by mere earthlings. |

I like it, never saw it in the theater. First time I watched it, I wondered why I never saw it in the theater. One of those movies that I can watch again, if I see it on.

I "thought" I liked Battleship, until I saw it again a few years ago - what a stoopid movie. The two leading hunks is the only thing that kinda makes it watchable. |

I liked it, some of the plot didn't make much sense, not enough fleeing refugees for example. You don't evac an entire metropolis with a couple of Huey's in a single morning.
The scene where they use a slide projector as a laser designator is my favorite. How the alien ships flew is another. Same flight method they used for the Star Wars program's satellite interceptor. |

Went with my brother to see it in the theater. He's a retired pendleton Marine. We both loved it.
I think ill watch it again right now if I can find it streaming somewhere. |
