They didn't realize that a chunk of their former customers were pro-liberty.

I'm surprised they lasted this long.

Flagship store is in Denver.

So full of smelly hippies, drug users, and fembois.  Let them burn.

Funny. A company selling to liberals should probably be hoping for a conservative president.

Middle and upper middle class is taking a whooping in this inflation.

Only homeless can afford to camp now.

I’ve only ever bought bear spray from them and only because it was in stock and convenient.

Yeah, they didn't just not carry guns, they actively refused to carry non-gun products from companies who made guns elsewhere in their corporation. That's just a conscious "fuck you" to its customers, and one of so many examples where the anti-gun narrative of "oh, we just want more controls over who can buy them" is revealed for the bullshit it is.

Hoplophobia, as the late Jeff Cooper used to call it.

This, they went above and beyond shitting on people like us and went balls deep on the covid and BLM stuff. So, since I refuse to find my own demise where possible ejected and recommend others do as well whenever I have the opportunity....

Been buying stuff from REI since the 70's.  Used to be an awesome place for good quality camping and hiking stuff.  I still shop there some, but it's gone pretty yuppy in recent years.

Bidenomics for the Win!  Disposable income is in the toilet. The Renters can’t afford the rent.

Personally, when at REI I scan the UPC and find it on line a whole lot cheaper.

Good, I grew up going to the original REI stores and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them but I gave up on them when they went full libtard.

I read their earnings report and it’s a trainwreck. I guess the advantage of a co-op is most employees are idiots. Revenue down, another year of losses and zero plan other than doubling down on the things that lost them money.

Moved to Billings a little over 3 years ago. First time I've lived near an REI and I've never been there. It never looks very busy. The Scheels down the street is packed every day.

I have Fin & Feather and Scheels. I don’t need REI.

Didnt know they were still in business

Only thing I ever bought from them was chums for my sunglasses. That was years ago.

This and how the store nearest me acted during covid.  Posted signs at the door that if you wear your mask "wrong",  you would be corrected by the staff.
Not sure if that was a corporate thing or my store was run by super-Karens.

Would love to see their losses from the Seattle store. It's hard to make a profit when you let (or encourage) drug addicts to steal anything they want, and then setup a camp across the street from the store. (They don't report to the police apparently)

I guess I am still a member, but haven't shopped there in years.

They actually have a great sale going on right now.

My dad and his dad are/were right around #100 for their membership card numbers.

Way overpriced.
A 20% off coupon a few times a year and a couple of sales is not competitive against online shopping.
Example being $140 Salomon shoes, or $104 to $128 depending on sales or if you use a 20% off coupon. Compared to $64.47 at Steepandcheap.com for the same item using a coupon which is frequently available.

ETA: Internet sales by small businesses selling lighter gear, often niche stuff, diverts sales that used come from foot traffic at REI stores. Examples being Enlightened Equipment, Hammock Gear, ZPacks, Katabatic Gear, ULA, UGQ, Tarptent, Dutchware, Warbonnet, and many other quality cottage products.

Won’t step foot in REI unless absolutely necessary, after attempting to purchase my daughter a raincoat off of a rack.  Then being told that it was only available ‘presale’ for REI members.

On a rack in the middle of the store with 50 other raincoats!

Fuck REI.

For those to familiar with the Orwellian language REI used when it pulled its 2018 stunt.

https://www.rei.com/newsroom/article/update-rei-statement-on-relationship-with-vista-outdoor#:~:text=Today%2C%20we%20notified%20our%20merchants,a%20buyer%20for%20Savage%20Arms.

Vista Outdoor chose not to engage in the national conversation about common-sense gun safety solutions that followed the tragic mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

REI does not sell guns or ammunition, and does not oppose hunting or the Second Amendment, but we believe companies that profit directly from the sale of guns have a civic responsibility to engage in the national discussion about gun safety, as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Walmart and others have done.

Dick's sporting goods outright stopped selling guns, Walmart stopped selling ARs.

Apparently, that's what they meant by "engage in the national conversation."

I doubt it.

I don't think I have ever stepped foot in one of their stores.  I just always assumed they sold overpriced shit to liberal hipsters.
