I know there's debate whether to change springs or run it stock, that's a different conversation. I've decided to give it a try and I'd like to hear about peoples experiences with different kits. Thanks.

I have the Apex kit installed on mine.  Trigger pull is better, but I've had some issues when shooting handholds with hard primers.  Factory ammo (Speer 125gr +p) has been fine.

I’ve had great results with the Apex kits in three J frames,  a 642, a 340 and a 3” PC model 60.

Spring kits on J frames are hit or miss.  Some work great, some giive light primer strikes.   Doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason.

The apex duty carry kit with firing pin and spring has been great for me.

While you're in there debur the hammer strut and smooth the block the holds the trigger return spring with a stone.  There used to be a YouTube vid on what to smooth/polish inside a SW revolver action.   My 342 with apex spring kit has about a 7.5lbs trigger.

Luvman,
I'll look into that, thanks!

Apex kit in mine caused light strikes.  Removed springs and replaced with factory ones.

I put  TK customs in my 632. It comes with an extended firing pin. I have put about 100 rds of trouble free rounds through it. The kits are only $25

Update

Got the Apex. Install was pretty uneventful. What a difference!  I don't own a scale so I can't provide actual numbers but, the weight is significantly reduced while still being smooth as glass. I've put a little over 100 rounds of mixed ammo through it without a hiccup. (110g +P through a few different 158g loads)  Still want to shoot it some more before putting her into service but,  the Apex has taken my 642 from a gun I never used because I hated the trigger so much to one I look forward to carrying.

Now I just have to decide on a pocket holster......

Also have a TK Customs kit with extended firing pin in my 642. Hundreds of problem free rounds through it. Probably the only gun I'd never think about getting rid of.
