Im a bartender in athens and broke my arm a work a few nights ago.  Work is offering me a host position that I can do one handed where I will pretty much be paid minimum wage so they won’t have to pay out workmen’s comp I’m assuming.  I’m thinking of hiring a lawyer but my settlement would be based on my declared income which is about half of what actually brought home right?  Also I’d most likely lose my job and I’ve been working here for over 10 years…

Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks

Work through the state of georgia workers comp first before you lawyer up... If you retain counsel they are going to take at least 33 to 40% of any impairment settlement you will get. Typically the employer and their insurance carrier are your best avenue as there are guideline that have to be followied.
