Greetings fellow SC enthusiasts. So we just signed a contract on a house in the Clemson area, will arrive this summer. Looking forward to getting there and getting settled.
I had a thread going about moving there, but it archived. I'm an SC native, retiring from a well north of 20yr mil career and heading to the Palmetto state. Maybe I can meet some of you folks soon! Cheers ETA: Anybody been to Kite Hill Brewing? Looks like a great spot. |

Welcome home!
I don't get out of my volcano lair much in the Greater Irmo - Chapin Metroplex. Clempson's too far over the horizon for me to comment factually. Best of luck with the move. |

Considering where you are moving, you might be able to do more fishing than just wishing you were fishin'.
Says a lot about this place that a sandlapper comes home after service abroad. Good luck on your move |

I haven't fished much in the last 3 years and it's been weighing heavily on my soul. Looking forward to "catching" up for lost time in them thar hills of Cackalacky. Also looking forward to ample, free, convenient parking, ice in my drinks, and air conditioning. None of those are plentiful here. I will miss the Belgian beer. It's hard to beat. |

View Quote Find a total wine. I don't have one close to me, but I stop at one in concord, nc when I go up for work once a week. Not sure where you plan to fish...guessing hartwell mostly. Haven't got to go there yet, but i've made a few trips to the river above and below Russell Dam |

I love smallmouth action, but getting a spotted bass on a hook is fun as well. |

Are there any good sporting clays or skeet ranges in the Clemson area? Google says there one in Belton and west of Anderson.
Any experiences out there? Cheers |

There is a Wall of Beer in Pendleton where you can get most any beer you want. Also, i think there is a sporting clay complex in Edgefield

Welcome to the neighborhood! Pickens county range has a dedicated clays range, but I don’t think they have an actual course.

I live in Clemson.
-Traffic sucks when the university students are here and especially around home football games. -There are a few ranges close by, depending on what you like. For sporting clays, check out the Elberton Gun Club in Elberton, GA. It's a bit of a drive, but they're well known for skeet and sporting clays and have a 400 yard range. I've never been to the Belton Gun Club. I used to be a member at Skip-J in Anderson, but they've gone down hill in my opinion. One can't even take a guest there, which is part of the fun of going. I hear all of the gun clubs I mentioned have a wait list, so you might want to get on one. There are also several indoor ranges relatlively close by, with Deep South Defense between Clemson and Seneca probably the closest. The Cedar Creek Rifle range in the National Forest above Wahalla is free and unmanned. Pickens County DNR range is manned. -Lots of fishing available since that seems what you enjoy most. Keowee is the nicer of the two local lakes. Hartwell is much bigger. Jocassee can also be fished but is a bit more of a hike to get to. Edit: Total Wine and Palmetto State Armory in Greenville aren't too far away. Both of off the Woodruff Rd exit. PSA has an indoor range. Twin Peaks is also at that exit and has the coldest beer in the area. They have a thermometer that shows the temperature in the coolers. Always below 32 deg-F, and I think I've seen it as low as 26 degrees-F. |
