Nice!

Me: Pistons aren’t needed and the URGI took HK’s lunch money.
Also me: There's not a reality where I don’t get one of these, just take my damn money already. |

Not my thing, but they sure look good. I was hoping they had a self contained bolt so they could be fired with a stock folded. I would have bought that.

Is that an H&K feature? Curious. I don't care about the actual feature but the engineering behind it would be neat to look at. These uppers look very well put together. I really do wish they would offer an adjustable gas block for those of us running suppressed. I'm curious how they're natively ported to deal with suppressed use? |

Then buy an adjustable gas block. Nefarious Arms now offers one that is a very high quality 416A5 replica.

Are they going to bring back the lowers too?

$1200 for an upper with a nitrided barrel?

Your painted rifle is ugly, but I’m uglier, so send it to me and I’ll make it look good! |

As soon as the 10.4 medium profile comes in stock I shall have it.

You have to be quick on them and stripped HK uppers when you get the notifications. |

Am I the only one that thinks these should be priced cheaper?
I know people are going to say that they are a bargain compared to a genuine HK upper but the HK stuff is WAY overpriced too. |
|
|
For those that want them cheaper, please explain how and why they should be. I honestly don’t know.

View Quote Looking at 16" barreled uppers by the time you are done putting a handguard and muzzle device on it you are at ~$1500 minimum. I am seeing the HK MR556 complete upper for $1800 and that includes a buffer and spring. That is all genuine HK parts. For a knock off they should be less IMO. |

View Quote Best price I have found recently - https://battlehawkarmory.com/product/hk-mr556-5.56-16.5-mlok-upper-receiver-kit Sometimes the price/availability of individual parts makes it more efficient to buy the upper kit and add a NA 10.4 barrel to get what you want. Then a different rail for the 10.4? A very spendy erector set..... |

View Quote Off the top of my head the prices of HK parts at some dealers that have decent availability - 416 stripped upper - $550 MR556 stripped upper - $370 barrel nuts - $45 to $55 bolt carrier (no bolt) - $399 bolt - $280 on sale! gas block - $130 to $200 HK buffer - $60 to $75 I have used HK USA, Midwest Gun Works, PAI and Blue Ridge. A complete upper from Battlehawk is pretty attractive with the price of individual parts. |

Now Brownell's has chrome lined Faxon barrels for the BRN-4 complete-ish uppers.

I don't understand the choice they made for barrel profiles on either the nitride or the chrome.
I can understand omitting the 11" length since you can't do an exact A5 clone with these barrels. But the fact that the 13.7" and longer barrels have such weird profiles is very off-putting. Can't do an M27 style clone, and I'm not sure you can chop and thread the medium profile barrels for 1/2x28 due to the OD of the barrel. The medium profile looks close to the newer MR556 profile, but without it in hand it is hard to tell. I'd buy a chrome lined barrel to chop and thread to 12.5", but I'd have to contact their support line and ask for the OD first. I'm perplexed at some of their decisions with these BRN4 uppers as a whole. The uppers reportedly have very rough machine marks that other billet AR uppers don't have, the barrels are a weird profile, and gas blocks have horrid machine marks. I get that it's supposed to be more affordable than a legit HK416 upper and even an MR556 upper, but I'm not sure what demographic these are targeted at. At $1200 for the upper, then $200-$450 for some type of handguard, and then a muzzle device, it isn't that much cheaper than a MR556 upper. And with the MR556 upper you're getting a CHF barrel and legit HK BCG, the only downside being that the barrel is not nitrided or chrome lined on the MR556. At the end of the day it is still a pay-top-play platform. TL;DR I'm not entirely sold on the Brownells 416 stuff. BCGs seem good though. Maybe I'll get one of their chrome lined barrels to play with. |

If you got the 13.7 inch upper, could you let us know what gas block is on there - the 10.4 or the 14.5/16 inch model? thanks
