I had one of the long lever releases and I had it on the rifle exactly one night. Had the rifle slung, walking through the woods at night, snagged on something and heard the mag drop into the leaves.
Switched it for this: Extended mag release I love it. |

I have these on all my 10/22's - just use your trigger finger to drop the mag.

I bought a cheap plastic one from, I think, CDNN many many years ago. Never had an issue with it, always worked.

The Ruger Extended Mag Release is actually pretty good; I have and use others (TacSol, Volquartsen) but find the Ruger can hold its own and have switched to it on a couple guns:

I have the VQ release on both of our 10/22s. Works great and no complaints.

It isn’t the cheapest, but the only one I have found that I actually like is the tandemkross fire switch
