US SOCOM Extends Suppressed Upper Receiver Group (SURG) Contract for 5 More Years
It's probably because they are making more for socom. Makes sense that they would release some extras to the commercial market. |
|
|
Rough calculation:
SLX556 - $1,100 11.5" 556 upper w/ M4 adapter - $2,000 Extra handguard - $200 ? Titanium shroud - ?? SURG dust sprinkled over it - $500 See, it all makes sense |

Your self destruction doesn't hurt them.

Does this mean they will actually ship these in quantity to SOCOM as well?
I will have to mill this one over. |

I'm kind of a fan of the handguard. Might be interested.

@coregon
Seeing as this system dates back to 2018, how does the included suppressor compare to Sig’s modern offerings? |
|
|
Having a hard time seeing this as something to have fun with shooting due to cost of hardware, though i guess for some its just cheaper to them than I...
Sig stuff really is all that huh? |

SLX556 is the can that SURG is getting. This offering us just piggy-backing off the production of the recent USSOCOM extension.

Damn, if I only had the money.... I would so buy this.

I’ll bite. What’s the purpose of the funky cage around the suppressor? To keep the hot suppressor from burning you?

Is there a specific reason that two hand guards are being delivered instead of one settled configuration?
|
|
|
are we ordering through impact guns or is there someone else more preferred?

I just noticed that the skinny SURG handguard looks like a longer version of the RSAR handguard.

Could someone tell me if the $4,100 price is dealers gouging or if its the normal asking price?

@coregon does the SURG have titanium parts like other military mcxs did?
|
|

This is totally friggin badass - a contract overrun.
I have several suppressed 556 uppers already though, so that $4000 price tag is a hard one to justify... But damn - that is cool as hell. |

There could be titanium in the heat shroud. It wouldn't really be a useful, difference maker material anywhere else (coming next, the MCX Spear LT TI - for $8k).

The only model mentioned to hsve titanium parts was the Spear-LT, not the Virtus line which the SURG is based on. Shouldn't be lore either as Coregon mentioned the parts, doubt he'd lie about it just to start a rumor. |

$4100 is too much for a upper and a suppressor. I'd pass. You can get a top tier upper and a nightforce ATACR for less money.
Besides, what is the difference between this and a regular MCX? Is the chrome-lined barrel the only difference? |

If you price the whole thing out then the price makes sense. It's a very rare set up obviously. If you are an MCX "whore" as someone said then you should be use to these prices. Price of fame.
