I haven't fired my Old Ironsides mini cannon yet but plan on trying it tomorrow. It's only .69 caliber but it still looks neat. I don't have an appropriately sized mold for this caliber so it's blanks and buckshot for now.

I had a distant cousin who used to make brass cannons about that size. Really cool there!
At the moment, this is all I have, but it still goes BANG! Happy Independence Day! Attached File |

This is one my dad made before he retired.
I measured the inside and it's 0.356 and all I can seem to find is 5/16" steel shot. If anyone knows where to get some slightly bigger that would be awesome! Attached File Attached File |

Not mine, Cannon, but would be fun/cheap to shoot.. |

I have wanted a cannon for a decade.
I now live on an actual civil war battle field. I have enough money that a few hundred for a cannon would not affect my family finances. My idiot next door neighbors shot and killed 2 police officers in my front yard last year and now I think it would be pretty inappropriate to shoot off a cannon in my driveway |

Very cool, sir, love that full size baby - have you fired her with a cannon ball, or just blanks?

I just picked this up last weekend. I was told by the widow that it’s 1/4 scale of a field cannon. Sleeved and came with a smelting pot, mold, powder and instructions..
I fired it for the first time today (blanks)! Damn thing is loud! Attached File |

A friend of mine had a bowling ball mortar. Its walls were around 2-2.5" thick, and it was about 16-18" tall. It was given to him, but he never fired it because he couldn't find a place where he thought he had enough distance to be safe firing it. Plus moving it was a major effort because it was HEAVY!

My dad was bigtime into DIY CNC stuff, and was just getting into cannons before his health failed and he passed on. I have his CNC lathe and all his CAD files, though... one of these days I'll just have to figure it all out.
Kind of took the wind out of my sails at one point when I started pricing chunky brass rod... |
