The pair met for several hours and DeSantis agreed to help Trump. The meeting was friendly, according to a person with direct knowledge. Former president Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met privately Sunday morning in Miami, according to people familiar with the matter, breaking a years-long chill between the presumptive Republican nominee and his onetime chief primary rival. Allies brokered the meeting in hopes of a potential détente between the two men, and Trump’s advisers hope DeSantis will tap his donor network to help raise significant sums of money for the general election, the people familiar with the matter said. Like others interviewed for this story, the people spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private deliberations. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/04/28/trump-desantis-meeting/ |

DeSantis is better than Trump, but yes I'd support that ticket.
|
|
|
I voted yes, but....
I think DeSantis can do great things in Florida, as he has been doing. I'd like to see that continue to firm up Florida. On the other hand, it would be good for DeSantis to get some more/better exposure for a run for President in 2028. If he chooses to be the VP, I would be happy with it. |

DeSantis should hold off for four years and lead the ticket.

I didn't think it was possible for him to be VP, but trump did send me a stupid fundraising E-mail stating that he was about to announce his pick, so who knows.
|
|

Unless one of them moves out of Florida that ticket would be a bad plan because of the potential EC issues in what will most likely be a very close election.
Also, given trumps record of trying to run down people that have been associated with him, desantis hitching his wagon to trump as VP would be a mistake |

Before you ask, Biden sucks, Putin sucks, Zelensky sucks, Ukraine is a giant money laundering scheme, and Trump sucks I'm voting for Camacho '24 |
The 2nd is not about hunting, it never was. It was put in place for one reason and one reason only. You can't have them, we won't give them up, so get over it.

I voted yes but I’d rather see strong states. Nothing good can come from DC.

Don’t worry guys The Republican Party will take us to the finish line. With A LOSS.

I'm all for Trump going scorched earth on the deep state and commies for four years...and then MAGA backing VP DeSantis for the next 8 years to get the conservative train back on the tracks...

I'd fear Florida would suffer, and that DeSantis might pull a Pence. Politicians will always play politician.
|
|
|
I'm going to vote R whether DeSantis is on the ticket or not. And here's the thing - so will everyone else that's voting Trump. And the opposite is true - people voting against Trump won't care who the VP is either.
This election is going to turn on turnout - people have already made up their minds. DeSantis isn't going to increase or decrease turnout. But DeSantis himself would be better off staying off the ticket. Too much risk, not enough benefit. |

In DeSantis' case, I think he'd pull a Pence while in office (covertly)..or the Swamp would set up something to get Trump bounced and DeSantis would have no choice "but" to take over. |

I'd vote for Trump with DeSantis as VP.
IMO the biggest problem right now is the numbers are stacking against us and if we don't win 2024 it may be impossible to win 2028 or any future elections. The dems have been flooding the country with illegals and if Biden wins 2024 then the dems are going to do everything they can to make the illegals into citizens that can vote. Add 30M dem voters before 2028 and its game over. |

I ain’t in no ways tired of winning yet!

Sure, but that's not what the meeting was about.
This is about fundraising. The traditional GOP money network is all fractured and/or disaffected. Been a growing problem for two decades now. |

Trump will have to move or maybe he’ll be in jail so technically he will have?

I don’t think those who follow DeSantis are part of a cult.

I'll vote for Trump pretty much regardless of who he runs with. Still, according to many people here, because I've been critical of the man I'm a NT commie. /shrug

Trump for 4 and DeSantis for 8
