I have been thinking about getting a mini mill for a while and I finally decided to buy one this one to play with for plastic, aluminum and light/thin steel playing.

After input from the group I upgraded to the 4190 with DRO.

I suggest getting the DRO for it.

FPNI.  I wouldn't have a mill without a DRO

I have the 3900.  It's been a great little machine for sure.

I am thinking about getting the DRO for it but I wanted to ask if anyone had the mill and suggested that I get it.

I have the model with the DRO and I like it.  It is no Bridgeport, but it is nice for what it is.

I like mine and can't imagine using it without the DRO

I had the HF version of the seig mini mill.  It was great till it died.  The table and spindle were still in great shape, electronics were toast.

It was cost prohibitive to bother fixing.  I sold it as parts.  I replaced it with a precision matthews.  Its a bigger mill, with a 5 year warranty.

I dont regret the chinese one.  I was able to make a few really cool projects on it.  Just know what it is, what it can and can't do, and treat it as disposable.

HF had nice machines back in the day.
My grandfather was a life long, master machinist from right before WW2.
He liked the lathes.
I have a Grizzley and have no complaints.

I like your photos of the projects that you are working on with your mills.
I didn't think about it until just now but I guess that I can "Form 4" or get my stamp to build my own suppressor at home.
I already have a fiber laser to engrave too.

If you get a DRO get the hardwired Version ant not the Bluetooth. I have the Bluetooth version  that connects to a generic android tablet  and it freq drops the connection or the tablet has a discharged battery when I need to use it.

The half function itself on a DRO is worth the price of admission.

I drug the crate into my shop and opened the crate. It’s a nice looking little machine. Now I have to get it onto my work bench.

I have not done anything with a mill or lathe since about 1990 when I was turning brake drums and rotors. I’m going to have to do some train up. I am thinking about milling a rimfire conversion for a 1911. I have a conversion to use for measurements.

For $200 more you can get the 750 watt motor.

I walked the little pig up a 2x8 to get it onto my bench. This little guy is pretty solid.

Make sure you tram X and Y before you machine anything.

I’m deciding on which dial indicator or tramming kit to buy.

The mini pro tram system is one to take a serious look at.

I ordered the mini mill version. Thank you.
I don’t suppose you could aim me at some appropriate tooling bit for milling a RIA mill spec slide so that it would accept a Novak adjustable rear site or a fiber site?
