Discussing a crime (rape/murder - no connection just random case) and the perp only served 3 years of 10 year sentence for two previous rapes as a juvenile.
Raped n murdered a girl within a year or two of being out.

Is there any liability for judges, attorneys who facilitate letting people out early?  Especially repeat offenders?

Just curious.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the case.

Nope. No accountability other than maybe one day at the polls.

Not unless there's proof of misconduct... took a bribe in exchange for a lighter sentence or something like that. Otherwise, they're pretty much immune from liability.

Do you really think you would get a fair trial and reasonable sentencing if the judge and/or lawyers were personally liable for your future conduct?

Welcome to "everyone gets the maximum sentence" world...

Not civil liability as in money damages. Not unless they released the perp through personally sneaking him out of prison or something, unrelated to their professional capacity.

But there could be disciplinary or political liability.
