Anybody know anything about this, I searched haven't found, seems it would be heralded gloriously.

I’d go for a Gen 5 MOS 17L

Did they ever do a Gen 4? Seems more likely they’ll just continue to do limited runs of gen 3 guns.

Life is good, so happy for this. Digging forward serrations and no finger grooves.

Currently have a Gen 3 17L, would love for a Gen 5. Really curious to see if theres a difference in recoil impulse between the 3 vs 5.

Am I the only one that thinks the 17Ls don't shoot as flat as a 34? Might be the extra sight radius playing tricks.

I like the G17L but agree there are other Glocks that shoot better.

The recoil impulse and muzzle flip just hit differently with the G17L.

Either way, I’m gonna buy one of these when they hit.

Slide weight can play a big part so it’s possible. I had a 24 for a short time and it didn’t feel hugely different than the 22’s I had shot before.

I missed my G24, had it for awhile- put thousands of rounds through.  Glad I still have G17L (recently bought).  Never owned 22 however, only 23 (briefly) and G27....  Shooting G24 VS G27 was a night and day.

If they're bringing the 17L in the current generation, that really makes me hopeful that the 19C might be coming too.

Glock won’t do these unless the order is big enough. I imagine that a minimum of somewhere between 5k-10k units. Since this is the first time the 17L has been produced as a Gen5 (or even 4 for that matter), that’s a whole new tooling for producing of the slide. I think the minimum order required by Glock would be on the high side.

I recently purchased a Gen 3 17L. It should arrive tomorrow.  I'm super excited. I have a couple 34s but this is my first LONG long slide. I ordered a 10-8 rear sight and an ameriglo red tritium front. I'm hoping the poi will be OK.. 250 rear and .240 front.  I have a few other front sights in the parts bin I can play with. Does safariland make a holster for these?

You can use any 6XXX or 7XXX series ALS holster for a g17 or g34, but either way you'll have to remove the cap on the bottom of the holster and the barrel plug. Your muzzle will protrude out the bottom of the holster.

That was going to be my route as well but was concerned about POA/POI.  Please share your results.

The gen 3 G17L and G17 share the same frame and recoil assembly so, yes that would work.

Gen 5 is yet to be seen.
I’m wondering if it will be running like a really long G47 or a G17.
I’m betting on it sharing frame and recoil assembly with the G17.5.

I’d love to see the gen 2 17L reproduced. Very unlikely, but after the reproduction of gen 1’s not outside the realm of possibility:

No coffin cut is disappointing.
The G17L makes for a great ported barrel host.

Waiting for the answer as well, but I want to say it was for Romania, for thier swat teams or something similar.

About 7-8 years ago there was one in EE for $450.  Unfortunately in the couple of hours after seeing it and deciding to buy it sold.

That pistol is from the Argentine Antiterrorist Brigade. I also believe it’s a Glock 24, not a 17L. This is from distant memory of having come across them, so take that for what it’s worth.

Could be a cool host for Magnaporting, plus more bragging rights as it would be a custom job

Info I could find:

https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/brigada-antiterorista-glock-17ls.1893137/

https://lsbauctions.com/18950/romanian-brigada-antiterorista-glock-17l-gen-2-9mm-semi-auto-pistol-mfd-19/

"Previously employed by Romania’s Brigada Antiterorista (the Romanian Counter Terrorisim Brigade), this pistol almost certainly saw use as a sidearm in that organization’s efforts to thwart terrorist activity in Romania."

interesting feature for you guys FYI

the dust cover on the front of the slide is all plastic

to help with weight without a coffin cut

Looks like it was released this week at the NRA show/thing.

Great find.

Its removable polymer part, shown here slid back. Not sure how into that design decision I am; woulda preferred the lightening cut vs making the crucial part that holds the recoil spring out of plastic...

I know we like to joke about Glock and some of the wisdom of their decisions, but if they decided that entire piece can be plastic, it's probably okay.

But I'm seeing something completely different here.

If that piece is plastic and can be slid off.

What's to say somebody can't make replacement pieces that would fit G19 and G26 frames? (AKA lone Wolf & Rocket City Stippling adapters)

If I close my eyes real tight I can still see the advertisement for these from SOG in the pages of Shotgun News like 20 years ago. They were only like $400 or something like that. Then I start hating myself all over again for buying a new G17 instead

Seems clear now that they're abailable for order/ purchase. Looking forward (sort of) to the threads about materials, configurations, "gotta-keep-stock because perfect out of box" vs " minimum mods to make it just right" discussions. No finger grooves, dust cover material, front serrations, MOS predictably hot topics. Im interested in reviews of the trigger and barrel, have never shot a Gen5.

I couldn’t pass up the blue label pricing at GT dist.  They have them in stock so I picked one up.  This will be my third or fourth 17L I sold them all but I make myself keep this one.  Also bought a 43x that I’m going to send to shield arms to get chopped.
