Here's a few quick pictures of the NDS-1815 built up. I'm going to try to get to the range this weekend and do a shooting video. Ignore the mismatch of the rear of the trigger guard to the grip, it's a PSA and is noticeably shorter than my other grips in that area. But I like how slim it is. I'm pleased with the fit and that our anodizing matches well. And some HDRP versions |

Do you have any prototype pics of your AR-180 style folding stock that you are working on?

[#2]
Not yet.
I'm going to work on it some more this weekend. Design-wise I want to make the hinge look similar to the original but with a more durable lockup. |

My purpose with the stock project was always primarily for the NDS-18S.
This has been in the back of my mind for several years. The 1815 adaptability would be a side benefit as there are many option out there already. Just saw this today. First one I've seen built up like this. Failed To Load Title |

As far as that video...... I saw it when it came out. I dismissed it as Jokey as soon as I saw the stock and that he had it folding to the wrong side. |

Not my favorite either, but not everyone needs or wants their build to be AR-180 retro spec.

Great job! What's it look like compared side by side with a standard AR15 lower?

It's something I'm working on. No timetable, and no pricing yet.
If I can't get the butt shells from Armalite I have a similar profile design I can do. |

The stock itself on the 180B is not bad but wider than a 180.
The 180 is slim and trim and the 180B is beefy. I really like a slim style that is more like the 180. The 180B is a very hollow shell and feels cheap. The 180 is more denser plastic and has a nice feel. |
|
|
[#13]
I do also.
But If I can get an off the shelf stock I will use it. My alternate would be flatter like the original. |

Not a bad idea, but we just don't have open CNC time for something like that right now.

Yes, I know. I spoke with Mark Westrom and the guys from SAC/Armalite at the SAR show in early December.
I'm still going to pursue the stock project with or without them. ETA: the receiver stamping is really the least complex part to make. The trunions, bolts, and carriers are the important parts. The tooling has been sitting for 12+ years who knows where. Probably rusty by now. |

Yes, the fit is snug.
After your buffer compresses a bit from use I'd say it will loosen up. The stock may not end up looking exactly like the one in the pics/video. So far Armalite hasn't been responsive to my inquiries. |

That 18 upper length looks nice. They were on super sale a month back for mid $600s. I should have bought one. Brownells is teasing with something new in the BRN-180 line for Shot. I can not wait. NDS, do not wait for help from Armalite. I am sure your design will be better without any help/materials from them. |

Please sir, continue with your development. Please come up with something better. Is outsourcing a molded stock specific to your specs possible or is your intention to only adapt what is in the market already? 3D print the prototype with the same lines as the AR-180 stock. Send that to molding company. Design it to fit your folding adapter. Spit them out in numbers. It does not even need a rubber butt pad to reduce costs. Just nice groves in the butt for slippage. Could also be solid poly instead of a shell to reduce costs. |

LOL
Of course you don't like it. And you are missing the point. This is a mock up using parts I already have in hand. It may not be the final iteration. The dual tang gives me options. We are a small company and can't afford to invest 20k-30k on a proper mold for an accessory product that "might" sell a few hundred units. |

Many stuff he molds are intended for just a few hundred units. The guy is very talented. I bet you heard of him, but he invented the poly AR .22 mag. Made molded products for Lage and others. |

Can't hurt to contact them after SHOT.
He might be making "mud molds", but they would not be suitable for a part this large. |

I don't care for the attachment/hinge. I think we can make something that looks better in that area. |

I am liking the retro looking ar180 stock, but I am not a big fan of the Brownells BRN-180 lower, but I prefer the look of the NDS 1815 lower. The Brownells lower just looks off IMO

Any info on your design for a folding stock for these? I've been holding off assembling mine because I'm not sure what your will look like. Though I may just throw a surplus type d or e stock on because I really like them.

The stock project is stalled out as we are waiting on the "possibility" of using the B5 polymer stock.
