Remove the right side grip panel and then remove the right side of the safety.
Then I move the left side safety back and forth with some force while pulling to get it to slide out.
If you can't get the left side safety out by pulling, get it out far enough that you can slide some plastic under it and push it up as you pull it and it will come out.
On my Raider, they came out pretty easy.
On some of my other 1911s, it takes some force and some prying to get the left side off.
An old plastic card will or some other thin piece of hard plastic will do the trick.
You could also try dental floss. First remove the right grip panel. 3 or 4 strands slipped under the right side safety as close to the pivot pin as you can get it. Tug and it should separate from the frame enough to get a fingernail under and slide it out. Then you have a short pivot standard safety to deal with on the left side.:)
Follow the previous instructions to finish removing the left side. The hammer must be cocked, and the safety must be about half way engaged upward to clear the frame hole. Then wiggle.
