Readers please sound off with a .338 Lapua handload they have found to be the most accurate in that rifle.

I'm shooting a Stiller Precision w/ Lothar Walther 26-inch barrel and NF 15x NXS optic.  I love David Tubb's new T7T 2-stage trigger, set for 1.1 lbs.

Been trying Nosler 250 gr. Accubonds and Barnes 250-gr. LRX, both over RL-22 and RL-25, all with mixed, inconsistent results on 100-yard indoor range with heavy rear leather bag and Sinclair front bench rest.  I know how to shoot tiny groups, but nothing seems to be working ... yet.

I really want a tough bullet for hunting at mixed ranges, close and out to 1,000 yards.

Thx. - CS

What is your twist rate?  I see no reason to shoot the light bullets like those unless you have a slow twist rate.  A large 30 cal will out preform the 250gr class bullets

I had great success shooting Hornady 285 ELD-X with H1000 in both a savage 338LM and a Ruger RPR in 338LM. I tested both retumbo and H1000. Got the same velocity with less powder using H1000. 89.8 gr is what I loaded. Hit 10 out of 10 at 1000 yards with this load.

OP, I don't shoot a 338, but I do shoot a big magnum in the 300rum, retumbo and H-1000 are ok powders, but for the heavies you will do much better with RL-33/US869/ and other super slow powders and loading as long as possible.......

1:12" TRG-42.

250s over 88.5gr-89gr of H-4831/SC at mag length.

215Ms, Lapua/Norma brass, Redding Bushing dies and micro seaters.

I'm just a hack, but that works for me.
