After ready some posts on 223 brass have a few questions.
Which manufacturer do yall like and also best bang for your buck. My local store has most big names peterson lapua nosler hornady. Practing reloading on range brass but need to change things for accuracy.Will keep all my range brass for plinking and major holidays though. |

Using mixed - PMC, Hornady/Frontier, Wolf Gold - I'm getting well under MOA groups when I do my part and MOA mostly when I don't. I'll worry about brass consistency and quality when I feel it is holding me back.

My father uses starline for loading 38-55 and 45-70. He has had no issues with that brass

For an AR I wouldn’t dump a ton of money into the brass. Some Hornady or Starline should work fine and load accurate ammo. I use both in my bolt gun and they work fine. Hornady has been out of stock for a while but if you find some it will work well. Starline for about $30/100 is a good deal on good brass.

Mixed LC brass was fine to go Distinguished and make High Master with the AR.
In a bolt gun, I’ve been weighing my processed brass and sorting by weight. That’s working really well at medium to long range. |

What are your expectations?
Big difference between MOA and 1/2 MOA and brass is only part of the equation. I don't use Lapua in ARs. To expensive to be abused like that. LC, Wolf Gold, and General Dynamics "A" headstamps are my favorites. LC is a given, Wolf is a sleeper especially if you can find the factory primed stuff. The General dynamics is not available much but is good stuff if you can find it. |

I use RP for all my match short line ammo, 100, 200 and 300 yards. The primer pocket radius and no crimp makes it run very smooth when priming on my progressive.
For 600 yard loads I use RP or Starline. I have all but eliminated use of any brass that was crimped. I still have some LC in rotation. It just is too much a PITA and time intensive for as much brass I use. As for as life expectancy and accuracy from brass. I have found indistinguishable difference in RP and LC. I have not ran Starline as many firings to compared yet. |

Lake City 5.56mm brass is very good and usually cheap. Supplies seem to have dried up compared to yesteryear.
You do need to remove the crimp, which is time consuming and requires special equipment. It's a onetime process. I prefer Winchester commercial brass for match ammo. Very consistent and reasonably priced. Many people think or claim that Federal .223 brass is the least desirable because it is soft. I don't load hot and I throw brass away (recycle it) after the fifth firing from rifle cartridges. I have never had a problem when using Federal. I treat Federal .308 brass the same way I do Lake City/IMI 7.62x51mm brass when I load it. 40.5 grains of IMR-4895, 40.0 grains of H4895, 41.0 grains of IMR-4064 with a 168 grain SMK and they last just fine for four reloads (five total firings). |

Another vote for starline. They say backordered on the website but they frequently make runs on .223 / 5.56 so you'll get it within a month typically. Call them and ask. They are very friendly.

I have loaded just about every brass out there here is my hierarchy. If your gun chews up brass my #1 may be you last pick.
Lapua Black hills match Winchester Lake city Most any other and dead last is Nosler. Even on my soft shooting guns Nosler rims get bent to the point they won’t fit in case holders. Ymmv. |
