Why do I expect that you will just drop another 100 today to break 70k

I mean really...you need 90 more.  You know you aren't stopping shy of 70k

Did a 5 mile walk at noon today with 35 lbs in my chest rig....that pretty much kicked what little ass I had left.

Will try to get some reps in before the end of the night.

Due to my schedule, I find it's easier to do 10 minute blocks throughout the day, but I haven't been getting sore.  I need to mix it up and try your approach.

@macro

I guess you were right.  I was about to move some furniture and remembered your post.

I figured I'd do a set of 60 and a set of 40.

Felt good at 50 and thought, "70/30 would be better."

After I hit 80 and still felt good, I thought I'd try to make 100.

For the first time ever, I did an unbroken set of 100!

My man

The 5 mile death March yesterday whooped my butt harder than expected, and did a number on my lower back, so going moderate today. Did a few hundred pushups, and will try to get a few hundred more. Nothing crazy today. Just keeping pace.

Going to hit the range and practice for an upcoming match, hit the grocery, make dinner, and then get in some more reps

I love marching/hiking/whatever.  The hardest part is always making the time and getting started.

The pace is a blessing and a curse.  Why would you ruin the pace because you just don't feel like doing something?   At the same time, sometimes, I just want to do nothing.

Opted for a longer run and will save the pullups for tomorrow when I lift again

Came home from work, got ready to run....dropped and did a set of 75 pushups, then ran 2-1/4 miles, dropped and did 60 more.

Time to clean up...more pushups later to finish out the night.

I think I'm now gotten used to the 5 reps I added to my closed-hand pushups....so now I'm doing 15 x 3, 2x a week....

I still am getting used to the 15 dips I do at night on the bed...

Not sure if I wanna add more pushups right now. I kinda want to move up my 8 pound weights to 10 pounds...starting with one workout I do on Wednesdays....Will probably start in May. Right now I have some pain (again) in one of my shoulders.

Good work.

Dips used to be one of my favorite exercises through about 2017, but now I avoid them as they seem to create more recovery opportunities than I want.

Funny enough, the reason I got a late start was because I was in the 'studio' playing guitar and lost track of time

And I had the benefit of doing 175 reps before work, so I just had to make up a few hundred reps before bed.

Started today with two sets of 75, and then a set of 50...more tonight. (Unless I get lost in the studio again)

The good - I started the day with a continuous set of 100 reps. Thays a first.

More good...I fasted 20 hours (for some blood testing) and before I broke my fast I did a 2 mile run.

After the run I did a few more sets of pushups.

Got to 350 but that's all I have for today. Going to call it a night and take a rest. Back at it tomorrow.

This morning was for Murph prep.

Did all the following with 20 lbs in my rig:
56 pullups
200 pushups
90 squats

That extra 20lbs makes it a lot harder than I thought

I have a month to get there.  At this point I know I'll finish....just not sure how long it's going to take. I'm sure at least a few hours...if not several

73k is a ridiculous year. You've done more pushups in 4 months than 10 average people do in 5 lifetimes.

@CrustyKayak

Hitting milestones is a big deal.
Staying healthy is a bigger deal.
Don't chase today what will cost you tomorrow

You put up insane numbers...telling you to not overdo it is useless...but seriously, don't cause real damage just to chase an arbitrary number.

Keep crushing it...but do so moderately

Honestly....this thread saved my life....and that isn't me being superfluous.
Before this thread I was the heaviest I had ever been at any point in my life....was drinking pretty much daily....was smoking daily...hadnt exercised in years.
My last bloodwork (from 2 years ago) came back with all kinds of red flags and I simply ignored it, and continued a downward slide. I had given up.

In four months that all got turned around...all because M4ger asked the question...am I willing to commit to just 100 pushups each week.
I have limited my drinking....I smoke way less....I work out every day...I've lost almost 40 lbs now....I'm running again....and most importantly, I got bloodwork done last week and no major red flags at all....cholesterol is even lower.

Thanks to all you guys posting....the support, encouragement, and friendly competition has been amazing. I appreciate each of you.
Wish we could all do a meetup at the end of the year to celebrate.
