IIRC the official shock test stated in the mil specification for optical instruments is 6 shocks of 150G peak acceleration. The testing we're doing on it is all in-house and we are not pursuing getting official mil-spec certification at this time. |

What type of battery does it take?
Do you have any photos of the windage/elevation adjustments? How exactly does the magnifier attach? |
It uses a CR2 battery. I'll see if I can get some pictures of the W/E adjustments in the next couple of days for you. The magnifier screws into the back of the sight. |
I may have missed it somewhere in the last 5 pages of discussion, but where are are these made?
Made in China. |
Oh |
I just wish it was not made in china.
how much more would it have really cost to have it made here? |
Does this optic's power "time out" like an EOtech...auto power off?
I dont want to wait till june to order one lol
Does the Magnifier come with a carry pouch, or?? Thanks |
Hard to say exactly, but significantly more for sure. It would definitely put it into a different target market. |
Yes, it has a 2 hour auto-shutoff. |
No, it doesn't have a carry pouch. It is pretty small, so it can fit into a pocket very easily. |
MUST HAVE ONE

If you can read this thank a teacher, if you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

I can't wait either. Is SWFA taking preorders?
Yes, that is were I ordered mine. Can't wait to get it! |

How bright is this sight?? Is it as bright as an Aimpoint.
It's definitely bright enough for daytime use. Bottom line, I don't think anyone will be complaining about it not being bright enough. |

less talky talky more buildy buildy.

I'm working on it! Really! The auto power-off cannot be disabled. Sorry. The battery life is projected to be about 2000 hours on the highest setting. However, we are still in testing. |

As of right now I'm leaning towards pushing the release date back a little bit. Realistically I'm thinking it will be July now. I hate to say that because i know you guys are all excited and I want to get them out to you, but I also don't want to release until they are ready. We are currently waiting to get the latest prototype and then we will do some testing. Provided everything goes well then it shouldn't be much longer. |
I've been holding out on buying some other optic for this. I have checked out the others that people have suggested but I believe this is the one I want.

Whatever it takes to make sure its 100% Sam. I can wait a bit since I'll be away from home and my toys for a few months, hopefully the Strikefire will be waiting when I get home. Looking forward to having some fun with it.
I say I can wait, but I really cant, git it out there, I wanna play. |
I know what you mean. Lots of people anxiously waiting for us to deliver. I'm really excited to get it out there, but at the same time I'd rather delay and make sure everything is right than disappoint people. Just hang in there for another month or two! |
Take as long as you need to in order to make sure everything is right with it. As I'm sure you know a bad first impression is much worse than making us wait longer. It gives me more time to practice with the iron sights anyway. |
Don't worry about it...better to take your time to do it right. People are more forgiving of a wait than they will be if you release a piss poor product and start getting bad reviews before you get the chance to fix any issues. Lots of problems could taint your whole product line for a long time even after the issues have been resolved. Good luck with this product… I think it is what the doctor ordered for many of us. |
I am anxiously awaiting the release. I've four rifles sitting waiting for red dots. Sounds like it gonna be great affordable optic. Take your time and do it right, but can you give us a heads up when the time for realease approaches.

Is there any possibility of getting with the factory to make a mount that is absolute co-witness for an AR?? I don't think it would be all that hard to change one dimension in the machining process. I think that would be a BIG selling point to a lot of people.
Regardless I am looking forward to seeing what this sight is all about. -Derek |
I think it is definitely something we will be considering in the future, but no definite plans for now. You are correct in that it would be pretty easy to make the change. If we do come out with an absolute cowitness mount I will make sure to post it here. Thanks for the suggestion! |
Just checking if you could post more pictures of the StrikeFire, you know, just to keep wetting our appetites

I'll see if I can get some new pictures up in the next day or two. I've been out of the office the last couple of days and I've got to catch up on some stuff first, but then I'll see what I can do. Sorry to keep you guys waiting. We're working on getting these done ASAP. |
You're correct. The rings are a standard 30mm ring, so the Burris should be a good alternative until we come out with an absolute co-witness height. |

Another mount that i am very interested in both for its perceived quality as well as the convenience of a throw lever style quick detach is the Warne A618LM. If you look on their website as well as SWFA they only show the A618M, which is the screw style mount, but i have been in touch with the people over there at Warne and they say that within a few weeks they will be putting the throw lever style into production.
I like it, the Strikefire is coming out, the mount i would like to use is coming out for it, everything is coming to market all at the right time! If anyone has any experience with these mounts please let me know because i have yet to use any Warne mounts but for the price they look unbeatable. Warne Tactical |

I am late to the party but have been looking at the 1000s of optic options (or so it feels) and I think the this is the reason I havent settled on anything else -- it fits the bill almost perfectly. Price seems to be too good to be true, but I have suspected that others are over-priced.
Anxiously awaiting release. Will pop over to SWFA and see what their preorder policies are. regards |
Quick question -- plant producing them is ISO900x certified?
Hi VortexSam, this is the first I've head of your red dot. It's very exciting. I was going to buy an aimpoint but it appears that I will delay that decision til your optics comes out. Have you had the chance to put it on an mp5 yet?
Yes, it is. |
Sorry, I don't have an mp5 . Would love to put it on one and try it out though. If anyone has one and wants to let me do some testing with it let me know! |
I am placing a preorder tomorrow. Thanks! p.s. wait until they are perfect to release tham! |
Just placed my order with SWFA. Now the wait begins. Lets hope it won't be to much longer.
early july? mid july? late july? personally didn't want to drop the $$$ on a eotech, acog or aimpoint as i am not using my weapon in a situation where i need a battle tested optic. have a new build that will be waiting for this :) just out of curiosity, why the 2 color dots? |
Sorry, but at this point I don't have a firm idea of what part of July yet. I should be getting more concrete info from the factory this week. As far as dot colors, based on the physiology of the eye, green is perceived as being brighter than red, so the green dot will allow a user to get the brightest possible dot. Even so, the red is easily visible in bright daylight against light backgrounds. However, some people think that green "blends in" with wooded environments more, so we still wanted people to have the option to switch back to red if they preferred. |
