I'm impressed. Any comparison with a Trijicon IR Patrol? The size alone is a big selling point.

3D print a prototype and get it dialed in, then off to the cnc shop for titanium or aluminium final product.
Does fov increase slightly with helmet mode ? or just a screen reduction ? |

Screen reduction only.

Now just need a lwir laser to target critters with helmet mounted thermal.
Hope to see some ttl video. Would be nice to keep the image quality of the trijicon patrol but cut the weight down. It’s a beast helmet mounted. |

Ok. Thanks for clarification

I don't have a PVS 14 so that's probably why I don't understand what's being discussed here.
If I am currently happy with the way my breech fits over my eye when helmet mounted using a dovetail mount and the armasite bayonet. Could I take my breach off of the armasight mount and replace with this Chinese skeet site and be good to go, and just as happy as I am with the way my breach fits over my eye? Thanks |

Excellent news. I understand you've got one coming to a buddy of mine locally out of the first batch so I will definitely be checking his out.

Thank you for this great review so far. Please try to test it on weapon. Is it possible to hunt with this. If it only shuts off after the shot, its not a big deal. When its broken then it is...
I already talked to iray. They might be able to deliver some samples to Europe as well. So this time ITAR would't by a problem for the rest of the world. By the way I have found on there website another interesting product 12uq and 640 x 512. I don't know if they are already shipping it but seems as a really nice clip-on. Clip CH42 |

This is purely an observation, and a bit off topic. I can't help but notice that the menu icons look identical to the icons on the Bering Optics thermals. Is Bering Optics using IRay cores or software to build their stuff or is this purely coincidental?

Iray is the main producer of lots of oem brands !
Lots to come from china - hope the 12 um cores are cheaper as the BEA cores |

Manufacturing of the MH25 was delayed about 10 days, but the 2nd shipment is scheduled for this week which means it should arrive next week.

Does this require a protected 16650 cell, or will an unprotected cell suffice? I.e. is there a circuit to prevent the overdischarge of the Lithium cell? Can the USB port be used to recharge the cell? That would be mighty convenient.
Could you run 2xCR123A with the extended tube? ( i imagine they would fit, but would 6V be healthy- I think maybe so since the device can tolerate 5V USB voltage) A single CR123A (duracell) is causing the unit to display low battery and switch off very quickly, like in minutes |
|
|
Thanks for your reply. I think I will obtain a USB bank and use it as a counterweight on my headgear, that way I will avoid having to remove the battery for recharging and I can enjoy extended periods of thermal viewing. It beats anything that's on TV these days!
First time I took it out at night, I saw something that looked like a rabbit out the back door. I figured it was a piece of trash that had blown in, but when I went to pick it up it hopped away! I imagine there's all kinds of critters sneaking around at night that totally escape our human perception. This is worlds beyond the Magnavox scope I used years ago. I doubt I could have detected the rabbit with a PVS-14 either. As a fun toy, I think it may be a better value than a PVS-14 since I can use it 24/7 |
|
|
I would agree on the value of thermal for sure!
If you are looking for a good cable to use when helmet mounting this one works well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D13HX3L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00 It is low profile and goes directly backwards under the MH25 when helmet mounted. Also, a 10,000 mAh anker will run the MH25 for close to 24 hours. |
|
|
Can you give me a suggested parts list to mount this and a PVS-14 to a helmet?
I have a Norotos AKA2 and a Wilcox G11. Also, how are the PVS-14 eyepieces coming? Thanks! |
|
|

How does this parts list sound?
iRay MH25 The PVS-14 I already own L4 G22 KVC Universal Dual Bridge MH25 PVS-14 Eye Piece Am I missing anything? Should I change any of that? |

Correct as long as you already have an OSS.
|
|
|
|
Will you be offering one of these to rent?
I really want to dual mount this with my 14 but want to see how it affects my poor little pea brain before I sink that much money into it. |
|

I love my China skeet, probably one of the best values on the market and definitely the best value for a high performance thermal.
I love what you guys did with the PVS-14 eyepiece. It’s 10x more usable now |

View Quote You technically just need ONE OSS adapter for the one eyeball which will look through the PVS-14. I never found anyone who would just sell me the left OSS or right OSS, though. And yes, you need a k-slip for the thermal (but UNV was including them with the purchase last I checked). |

hey @UNV, how do you guys capture video from the MH25? i assume its through the cable. but whats your video capturing setup like?

Hello fellow firearm enthusiasts,
Just tuning into this. I think I need one. Any reason not to? |
|

Did anyone test this or get an answer on if it can handle weapon recoil, and if so, up to what caliber?

My reticle is disabled in mine.
Also I need ideas for a DVR or recorder of some sort. It would be awesome if one of those little WiFi modules would plug into it and then connect to my phone for streaming and recording. But alas, I’ll keep wishing in one hand and ……. in the other. |
|
|
I really love the MH25 and the DVR. Some of the videos were captured during the day with highs near 100 and 106* heat index.

There has been a gap in the industry for a compact, light-weight, helmet-mountable, 640 resolution thermal monocular that doesn't cost a fortune. Currently, the only mainstream options for helmet-mountable thermals are the FLIR Breach, Trijicon IR Patrol, and the Trijicon Skeet-IR. As a hunter, the advantages of a compact, helmet-mountable thermal monocular cannot be overstated. The amount of objects that you are able to detect with a helmet-mounted thermal that you would otherwise miss when using just a weapon scope, or even a handheld scanner is staggering. Additionally, the ability to keep your eyes on a target at all times while moving is extremely helpful for safety, efficiency, and situational awareness. We recently received a couple of these units for testing and were extremely surprised and impressed by the image quality and performance of these units. We will continue to test these units and provide additional information here as we learn more. Gents - For those that have used this thermal, is the MH25 weapon clip on capable?
I thought I read that it was possible, but someone posted in this threat that it wasn't due to lack of culmination. My primary use would be clip on (in front of optic) and secondary would be helmet mounted. |

Not sure the recoil rating and if the height dimensions are correct either. But I could be wrong, I'd email UNV for clarification. But I use mine as helmet mounted. I love it. |

Ultimately if I want a helmet thermal solution I'm leaning heavily towards a Jerry CE5 or CE2 to use in conjunction w/ my NODs. |
