For tight-packed cans, lay a paracord or other good twine across the bottom of the can, with the ends long and hanging out the sides of the can. When the can is loaded, tie the ends together with just a little slack, and you've created a pull-handle to use for removal of snug-packed things. Can do multiples as well - a paracord per layer rather than one for the whole can; that's what I tend to do. |

Not all brands fit the same, but yes, Golden Tiger is easy. Mine go in a little different than yours, but do fit all 1000 rounds. Got 18,000 rounds of GT in 18 cans.

GREAT POST!!!! Thank you!
With this tutorial, I spent last weekend consolidating some cans and really opened up some space in my ammo fort. Now I also have a few extra empty ammo cans as a bonus |

View Quote My hat is off to you - awesome! 18K! Just make sure you also use desiccant in those cans and change/recharge it every six months. I just did my inventory/desiccant changeout on my measly stash. I only have 2K GT but I did the 1000/can trick too. Pretty amazing that they actually all fit in there. |

Just an FYI, and obviously ammo cans are better, but I had an empty crate that 7.62x54 spam cans come in, and 1800 rounds of GT in boxes fit nicely.

This has been a good thread. I just finished up taking some boxes apart and filling up a few of the cans. Only problem I have right now is that I need to order some more cans. Don't have to worry about stacking boxes any more. As usual, this site is gonna cost me some more money again.

Not getting it. Can you guys send me a couple of cans so that I can inspect how you did it? Great information, thanks for the post. Just need to get some ore ammo!!!

I used the above pic of the 5.45x39 for my GT 5.56 and it fit great in a 50 cal can. Still need to buy more cans to load up some of my 223 but the GT is good to go.. Thanks again for this thread.

We like to pack ammo in ammo cans in our spare time here at www.SGAmmo.com, and we used to do a 1000 round golden tiger. At first I tried myself to get 50 boxes of GT in a can and could never make it happen and we almost did 960's, but one of my warehouse guys discovered the pattern shown in the OP and we went onto making the 1000 round golden tiger option in an ammo can. There is just something extra-cool about ammo when its packed in cans. Maybe the next shipment of GT will last a little longer and we can make some of these 1000 rounders or maybe the 500 rounders again

Only ever got 960 7.62x39 in a .50, but I did leave room for desiccant just in case, so there's that. |

Did the 1K of Golden Tiger in a can today, worked like a charm. No problems.
Tried to fit 1K of AE XM193 in the black 20rd boxes into a can but could only manage 980. I just couldn't fit that last box in. Tried the pattern that somebody used with wolf gold but the AE boxes must just be a little bigger. Anybody have any ideas? |

I've never seen this thread before, but the first post is too complicated. GT is easy to fit 1000 rounds and all the layers look the exact same. Something like this...
